Our nationally approved training curriculum

Career Span, Inc. has trained over 100 career professionals representing education and workforce development. Our training is based upon the nationally approved GCDF curriculum, Intersection: Where Career Theory, Models and Resources Converge (2015). This curriculum is co-authored and developed by Career Span’s certified instructors, Carla Hunter and Caroline Francis. The twelve core competencies of the GCDF credential are studied and interwoven into eleven face-to-face training modules lasting eight hours each class day from 9am to 5pm. The teaching modality includes the application of theoretical principles and models that have been successfully implemented in our private practice with clients and shared in classroom instruction. There are 88 hours of face-to-face class instruction with a minimum of 32 hours of outside homework required. Combined instruction and homework must total 120 hours to

complete the training as mandated by the Center for Credentialing and Education. This is a rigorous training.

Location and time

The training will take place in Lexington, Ky. Location to be determined based on class size by September 4th.

Each training day starts at 9:00am and ends at 5:00pm on designated dates listed below.

We take small breaks often and have a working group lunch. All class members are responsible for their lunch and snacks.

Each training day begins at 9:00am and ends at 5:00pm. Dress is casual. We have many activities and discussions during the training. Students are encouraged to bring snacks, drinks and comfortable attire. The location will be handicap accessible. Please let us know if you have any special needs.

GCDF certification requirements

The Center for Credentialing and Education has specified requirements for each student to earn the GCDF credential including work experience and education. This training is part of the process of becoming a certified GCDF professional. Our curriculum meets the standards and is approved for the 120 hours of core competency training.

Training expectations

As soon as a student enrolls in the class, a welcome letter and information will be sent via e-mail. This correspondence includes:

The 2015- 2016 Syllabus (subject to change) Your homework assignment for the first training The Getting to Know You information page to complete for your supervisor

Each student is expected to attend all classes. There will be no make-up classes unless inclement weather occurs.

The 2015-2016 training fee and policies

Career Span’s certified GCDF 2015-2016 training fee includes:

All class materials, binder and resources Direct supervision, coaching and feedback from an assigned instructor/supervisor Two graduation banquet tickets for you and one guest

(Tentative dinner date is April 22nd in Lexington)

Note: The tuition fee does NOT include lunch expenses on training days.

Career Span, Inc. offers an Early Bird full registration fee of $2500.00 if post-marked and paid on or before August 14, 2015.

The regular full registration payment postmarked after August 14, 2015 is $3000.00.

A tuition payment may be refunded minus a $100 processing fee before August 14, 2015.

You can submit a non-refundable deposit of $100 to reserve your seat at anytime if space is available.

This deposit guarantees your seat until tuition is paid in full on or before September 4, 2015.

Please note: ALL GCDF tuition payments are non-refundable after September 4, 2015. Another professional may be substituted in a student’s place if registered by September 24, 2015.

After September 24, 2015 the training class will be closed to new or additional students.

Your full tuition payment must be received on or before September 4, 2015.

Your student registration form (pages 6 and 7) must be completed and mailed with deposit to ensure your reserved seat or full payment to Career Span, Inc. by September 4, 2015.

The 2015- 2016 training class capacity will be 21 students.

Career Span, Inc. will offer another GCDF certification training in the fall of 2016.

1. By check made out to Career Span, Inc. for total amount based on early bird rate if paid by August 14, 2015 or regular rate beginning August 15, 2015.
