For this effect I have used Photoshop to make it look as though the mugs are floating in the corridor. To achieve this, I first took two pictures, one of the mugs placed on a black chair in the middle of the corridor, and another with the mug and the chair out of the shot, to take these two images I used a tripod so both of the pictures would be in the same place, which overall would give my final image a more professional look. Once I had done this I uploaded both images into Photoshop and rasterised them then used the polygon tool to cut around the mugs so I got rid of the chair to give the mugs the floating effect. After I had finished cutting around the mugs I repositioned them and resized them so they were more realistic. To further make my image more authentic I added a reflection on the floor, to do this I copied the layer with the mugs on and flipped it horizontally, I then reduced the opacity of the image so it looked slightly more transparent. Lastly I distorted the reflection making the side closer to us larger to give it more depth.

The skills I have gained are...

• Basic Photoshop skills• How to use the magnetic lasso and polygon

tools• How to duplicate layers • Where different tools are located in

Photoshop• How to distort layers, and make them more or

less opaque.
