Training Content Level 3 Award for Deliverers of Physical Intervention Training in the Private Security Industry (QCF) Learning outcome 1 The student must be able to assess the training environment to reduce risks in preparation for physical intervention training. This will include identifying ways of reducing risk in the physical intervention training environment, conducting a safety briefing and ensuring that all participants are physically fit and prepared to take part in the physical intervention skills training. The student will have to identify personal factors that may increase the risk for participants. Learning outcome 2 The physical intervention student must be able to safely and effectively manage the learning environment for physical intervention skills. Teachers must be able to explain different factors that are critical to the effective and safe delivering of physical intervention skills. The consequences of deviating from an approved physical intervention programme have to be pressed. In addition, the physical intervention student teacher must be able to manage learner behaviour to ensure a safe and effective learning environment as well as Identify and manage barriers to learning. Learning outcome 3 Physical intervention Trainers must be able to deliver instruction in physical intervention skills. Learners will have to be organised and positioned so that they can learn effectively from physical intervention instruction. An accurate and safe demonstration has to be provided whilst explaining the purpose and potential use of the skill about to be taught. Skills should be broken down into components and coaching points provided. Teaching must be adapted to fit problem solving and skill of the particular workplace. Learning outcome 4 The physical intervention trainer must be able to assess physical intervention skills of the learners against the agreed standards. Physical intervention Assessment documentation must be completed accurately. It is only since April 2010 that the T/601/2503 qualification has been approved by the Home office and the SIA for the purpose of teaching physical intervention within the private security industry, all other qualifications offered in the UK prior to this date was at the sole initiative of training providers - your training qualification may not be valid if it was obtained prior to this date. Please check with your awarding body. Course Duration: 5 Days From June 2010, physical intervention skills have been part of the door supervisor licence- linked qualifications. Trainers offering the new qualifications must have completed this programme. This programme is intended for trainers who wish to offer physical intervention skills training or who wish to train other training providers in this area: they are not intended for licence applicants.
