Dear Fr. ''''''''''''''''''':Hello! In the spirit of Christian friendship, I want to welcome you to the tri-parish community of ''''''' '''''''''''''''''''''' '''''''''''''''' '''''''''''''''' '''''''' '''''''''''' '''''''''''''. Ever since you have formally become our pastor, I have noticed that Mass attendance has risen considerably, especially amongst parish youth. You are beginning to bring a sense of community into our parish, which is attractive to those who have fallen-away from Holy Mother Church and Her teachings. In spiritu humilitatis, I thank you for your efforts! With the deepest spirit of respect and honor, I wish to address three liturgical abuses which I have discovered as such after much reading of official documentation: I have observed that at the Consecration of the Most Holy Eucharist, you take the paten and the host, and raise them both high in the air while pronouncing the Words of Institution; you do the same with the Precious Chalice. On days where the services of Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion are required, these ministers approach the altar during the singing of the Angus Dei, before you have received the Eucharist. Finally, after the ablutions, you hold a prayer service and announcements for a few minutes, and then proceed to the Prayer after Communion. As to the first instance which I believe is an abuse, the Roman Missal Third Edition states in all Eucharistic Prayers, He takes the bread and, holding it slightly raised above the altar, continues The Missal says the same regarding the Chalice. As to the second instance, the General Instruction of the Roman Missal for the United States #162 reads, In case of necessity, the Priest may depute suitable faithful for this single occasion. These ministers should not approach the altar before the Priest has received Communion. As to the third instance, the General Instruction of the Roman Missal #166 reads, When the Prayer after Communion is concluded, brief announcements should be made to the people, if there are any. Also, the documents Inter Oecumenici and Inaestimabile Donum prohibit interrupting the Mass. I would like to petition you to correct these abuses in our parishes. Thank you for your time to read this letter.

Sincerely,

'''''''''''''''''''' ''''''''''''''''''''''''.
