Transcript of Letter of Recommendation- Dr. Tavano
DEPAUL UNIVERSITY
April 29, 2013 RE: Amanda Rodriguez Amanda Rodriguez has requested that I write a letter of recommendation on her behalf,
and it is with pleasure that I comply. Amanda is one of my undergraduate students in the
College of Education at DePaul University. Amanda is an excellent teacher candidate. She
knows curriculum and methodology that lead to mastery learning. She effectively implements
Guided Reading facilitating higher order thinking and comprehension skills in her students.
Amanda is completing her student teaching in a kindergarten classroom at Galileo
Scholastic Academy in Chicago. Her classroom is diverse with a range of abilities and readiness
skills. Amanda teaches all subjects— reading, writing, grammar, math, social studies and
science. She effectively communicates with parents both in person and through her Parent
Communication Folder (as weekly newsletter). Amanda is engaged in many school-wide
activities such at Reading Night and Day of the Child.
In addition, Amanda has solid classroom management skills. She is organized,
consistent, and effectively establishes routines and procedures that enable meaningful instruction
and learning. She appropriately rewards good behavior.
Amanda’s people skills are excellent. She treats all of her referent groups—students,
parents, teachers, and administrators-- with dignity and respect. She is highly collaborative as
evidenced by the solid working relationship with her cooperating teacher, Ms. Guadalupe
Vazquez. Amanda meets with Ms. Vazquez before and after school preparing lessons and
debriefing. Amanda works closely with the kindergarten team as a whole.
Amanda has always been a credit to her family and to DePaul University. She is an
enthusiastic, energetic teacher as evidenced in her work at DePaul and in student teaching. I
know that Amanda Rodriguez will be a most definite asset to your school and community.
Respectfully,
