COMMUNICATIONS 313
Gloria Rose, 819 North Linn Street, Iowa City, Iowa, sends the following communication:
I AM PREPARING a collection of written- out realizations of the basso continuo which survive in actual compositions (i.e., not as examples in treatises) of the 17th and x8th centuries. These realiza- tions are more numerous than is gener- ally supposed. But since they occur mostly in manuscripts of widespread dis- tribution, there are likely to be some important sources that I have overlooked. If any examples of such realizations are known to readers of this JOURNAL, I
should be most grateful to hear of them. I shall, of course, be happy to acknowl- edge in print any information which I may be given.
Donald J. Grout, Cornell University, sends the following communication:
FOR PREPARATION of a series of critical editions I should appreciate information about any MSS of the following operas of Alessandro Scarlatti in private collec- tions: Ciro, Eraclea, Griselda, M. Attilio Regolo, Massimo Puppieno, Mitridate Eupatore, Statira, Tigrane, Tutto il male non vien per nuocere.
