EFFECTS OF OBESITY
HEART STRAIN >>>The increased mass means the person’s heart has to work harder to pump more blood at a much harder rate throughout the body.
HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE >>>>>
These fats constrict the blood vessels, which means that the heart experiences difficulty in pushing blood through the vessels.
CARDIAC ARREST The heart stops through being overworked

STROKE• When high blood pressure occurs, strokes
follow Of every 100 people who have a stroke15 die (15%)
10 recover completely (10%)
25 recover with a minor impairment or disability (25%)
40 are left with a moderate to severe impairment (40%)
10 are so severely disabled they require long-term care (10%)

HEART ATTACK
• The plaque build up from the fat cause blood to build up, leading to a heart attack

![Page 9: Let's get back on track](https://reader033.fdocuments.us/reader033/viewer/2022061120/546d4e55af79596c298b52f4/html5/thumbnails/9.jpg)
There are several other effects of Obesity including

Let’s look at some of the things that we consume that have hidden
sugar
![Page 12: Let's get back on track](https://reader033.fdocuments.us/reader033/viewer/2022061120/546d4e55af79596c298b52f4/html5/thumbnails/12.jpg)
Hidden sugar
• Each can of coke for 255mL, contains 26grams of sugar, which is equivalent to 10 sugar cubes.
![Page 13: Let's get back on track](https://reader033.fdocuments.us/reader033/viewer/2022061120/546d4e55af79596c298b52f4/html5/thumbnails/13.jpg)
Effects of Soda
• 20 minutes: Your blood sugar spikes, causing an insulin burst. Your liver responds to this by turning all the sugar that is sent there into fat.
• 30 minutes: Your pupils dialate, your blood pressure rises, as a response your livers dumps more sugar into your bloodstream. Preventing drowsiness
• 60 minutes: Sugar crash. You may become irritable and/or sluggish.
<<<< 40% more caffeine and 15% more sugar than coke
![Page 14: Let's get back on track](https://reader033.fdocuments.us/reader033/viewer/2022061120/546d4e55af79596c298b52f4/html5/thumbnails/14.jpg)
No Soda, then how about juice?
No? 15 grams Of sugar?
![Page 15: Let's get back on track](https://reader033.fdocuments.us/reader033/viewer/2022061120/546d4e55af79596c298b52f4/html5/thumbnails/15.jpg)
I only have 99 cents.. How about Arizona?
![Page 16: Let's get back on track](https://reader033.fdocuments.us/reader033/viewer/2022061120/546d4e55af79596c298b52f4/html5/thumbnails/16.jpg)
No? Okay, I’ll drink flavored water, vitamin water is still good for you
right?
![Page 17: Let's get back on track](https://reader033.fdocuments.us/reader033/viewer/2022061120/546d4e55af79596c298b52f4/html5/thumbnails/17.jpg)
Let’s look at how much sugar, chocolate milk has.
![Page 18: Let's get back on track](https://reader033.fdocuments.us/reader033/viewer/2022061120/546d4e55af79596c298b52f4/html5/thumbnails/18.jpg)
ALSO• The amount of sugar, all the students of a school consume in a week at
school is more than enough to fill a school bus.
![Page 19: Let's get back on track](https://reader033.fdocuments.us/reader033/viewer/2022061120/546d4e55af79596c298b52f4/html5/thumbnails/19.jpg)
So how much sugar does chocolate milk have?
• Chocolate milk of this size contains 25 grams of sugar.
Wait, isn’t that how much 255mL, of coke had?!
Nah, coke had 26 grams.
![Page 20: Let's get back on track](https://reader033.fdocuments.us/reader033/viewer/2022061120/546d4e55af79596c298b52f4/html5/thumbnails/20.jpg)
So how about fast food?Because of it's affordability, taste and
convenience, we still make it a part of our diet almost every chance we get.
FAST FOOD = Trans and Saturated fat
>>> High cholesterol
>>> Hardened Arteries
>>> Leads to Heart Attacks as well as Strokes
![Page 21: Let's get back on track](https://reader033.fdocuments.us/reader033/viewer/2022061120/546d4e55af79596c298b52f4/html5/thumbnails/21.jpg)
Something you probably didn’t know
Fatty food take a toll on short term memory
To determine the effect of a fatty diet on memory and muscle performance, researchers studied 32 rats that were fed low-fat rat chow and trained for two
months to complete a challenging maze.
![Page 22: Let's get back on track](https://reader033.fdocuments.us/reader033/viewer/2022061120/546d4e55af79596c298b52f4/html5/thumbnails/22.jpg)
However• Then half the rats were switched to high-fat
rat chow
• The rats who stayed with their regular food continued the same high level of performance on the maze, finding six or more treats before making a mistake.
The rats that changed however, were unable to complete this maze
![Page 23: Let's get back on track](https://reader033.fdocuments.us/reader033/viewer/2022061120/546d4e55af79596c298b52f4/html5/thumbnails/23.jpg)
