Let Them Thrive: A Playbook for Helping Your Child Succeed in School and in Life
“In an engaging and conversational voice, Novak shares valuable tips
about how parents can become informed partners in the effort to
improve education for all learners, especially those with
disabilities. She offers specific classroom-based examples of how
teachers can customize their lessons to meet individual students’
needs. Throughout the book, she makes the case for why parents and
caregivers are so important to this process.”

Different Kids, Different Sizes = Variability
If you have more than one child or student, you’ll notice they have a unique mix of strengths and weaknesses. Think about how boring life would be if we were all the same.
The important take-away of UDL is that kids are not disabled- our schools are.

Transforming Education: Why?Top line is professional jobs, or "nonroutine cognitive" — jobs that aren't rote repetition and require a fair amount of thinking and education (i.e, doctor, architect)
The middle two are routine cognitive jobs (the green line —think secretaries) and routine non-cognitive jobs (manufacturing jobs, for example).
Bottom line is "non-routine manual" work, often thought of as low-skill work — hotel maids, waiters and so on.
