CATEQUESIS CATOLICA

LA IMPORTANCIA DE LA FE EN EL HOGAR

La fe generalmente se describe como un viaje. El Papa Francisco nos recuerda que la fe es la base que nos sostiene en este mundo caótico. A través de la fe, aprendemos la memoria del pasado (la historia de salvación) y del futuro que Dios nos promete. El conocimiento es vital para la fe también. El Papa escribe; “la fe sin verdad no salva.” (24) (Lumen Fidei y OSV Luz de Fe)

El Catecismo de la Iglesia Católica afirma que los padres son los principales y primeros educadores de sus hijos (1653). Reconocidos como "la iglesia doméstica por el Concilio Vaticano II, las familias creyentes tienen una importancia primordial como Fe viva radiante (1656). La educación en la Fe por los padres deben comenzar en los primeros años del niño y esta catequesis debe preceder, acompañar y enriquecer otras formas de instrucción en la Fe (2226).

Nuestro llamado a este ministerio de enseñar la Fe en el núcleo familiar se expresa de diferentes maneras: a través de la oración, reconociendo el amor de Dios en los acontecimientos cotidianos, leyendo la Biblia juntos y muy especialmente a través de asistencia regular a misa.

Como católicos, creemos que la celebración dominical de la Eucaristía es el corazón de la vida de la Iglesia (2177). Los padres, quienes en el Bautismo asumen la responsabilidad de educar aquella vida que Dios les ha confiado (1252), están obligados a compartir la Fe con sus hijos los domingos, así como en los días de Obligación

FAITH AT HOMEFaith is often described as a journey. Pope Francis reminds us that Faith is our foundation, grounding us in a chaotic world. Through faith, we learn both the memory of the past (the story of salvation) and the future God promises to us. Knowledge is vital to faith as well, Pope Francis writes, for “faith without truth does not save” (24). (Lumen Fidei and OSV Light of Faith)

This journey begins at home with you, the parents, who are the principal and first educators of their children (CCC 1653). Referred to as the domestic church by the Second Vatican Council, believing families are of primary importance as centers of living radiant faith (1656). Education in the faith by parents should begin in the child’s earliest years and this catechesis should precede, accompany and enrich other forms of instruction in the faith (2226). Our calling to this ministry of teaching the faith through the family is expressed in a variety of ways: through family prayer, recognizing God’s love in daily events, reading the Bible together and most especially through regular Mass attendance.

As Catholics, we believe that the Sunday celebration of the Eucharist is at the heart of the Church’s life (2177). Parents, whom at Baptism assume their role as nurturers of the life that God has entrusted to them (1252), are obliged to share the faith with their children through Sunday and Holy Day of Obligation Mass attendance.

Preparation for the sacraments is only part of the Catholic faith formation and should not be the sole reason for religious education. The Seven Sacraments continue the saving work of Jesus until he comes again; they form the center of the celebration of the Christian mystery. Through the ministry of the Church, all are invited to hear the Good News, follow Christ and share in these saving mysteries; mysteries that symbolize, make possible, realize and nurture the grace of the sacraments in the baptized. Participation in the sacraments is not simply an option; rather, it is foundational to sustain the faithful in union with the very life of the Trinity and to strengthen them for the rigors of living their faith as committed disciples.

PROGRAMA DE EDUCACION RELIGIOSALas Clases de Educación Religiosa se ofrecen a niños y jóvenes desde Kinder hasta grado 12. Las clases son de una hora semanal durante el año escolar de Septiembre a Mayo y son instruidos por catequistas voluntarios. Se llevan a cabo múltiples sesiones, ya sea en domingo, lunes, ó miércoles, para darles a los padres la oportunidad de elegir el horario que más les convenga. Adult enrichment classes are also offered on Tuesday evenings in English.

Para alumnos que prefieren trabajar a su propio paso les ofrecemos el Programa De Catequesis Familiar Este método de educación en casa provee de la educación de la Fe, otorgándoles a los padres el papel de catequista principal. Este programa alienta a las familias para que tengan una mejor comunicación familiar, desarrolla la aplicación concreta de principios de la Fe. Así mismo, permite atención uno a uno y permite que el material didáctico sea adaptado para cada niño. Sin embargo, este programa no es para todas las familias, ya que requiere de un compromiso intensivo (aproximadamente 1 – 1 ½ horas a la semana) y requiere de mucha disciplina, además del entendimiento de los principios de Fe de la Iglesia Católica. Hay juntas obligatorias cada cuatro meses para monitorear el progreso del alumno y se proporciona un certificado de crédito al finalizar el año escolar. Este método no está disponible para preparación sacramental.

El currículo de educación religiosa para Kinder a 6th grado se llama Vivos en Cristo, una serie de “Our Sunday Visitor” . Todos los currículos sonde “Our Sunday Visitor” y aprovados como marcos directices de USCCB.

Preparación SacramentalPor virtud del bautismo sus hijos están llamados a participar de los sacramentos de la Iglesia y es fundamental sostener la fe en unión con la vida de la Santísima Trinidad como antes mencionado. La catequesis debe empezar a una temprana edad. Sin embargo, para obtener una catequesis apropiada, la Diócesis de Austin requiere un mínimo de dos años de preparación antes de recibir los sacramentos, de primera comunión y confirmación. Los padres de familia también deben entender que este periodo se puede alargar si el alumno no tiene un entendimiento adecuado de los conceptos de la fe de acuerdo con su edad y grado escolar.

La preparación tanto para la primera reconciliación, como para la primera comunión, por lo general se lleva a cabo cuando el alumno se encuentra en segundo año de primaria. Para poder llevar a cabo estos sacramentos, el alumno debe cumplir con los siguientes requisitos:

1. Dos años completos de preparación Sacramental2. Asistencia y participación a la Misa Dominical. 3. Participación regular a clases con no más de 4 ausencias por año.4. Asistencia de los padres de familia a las juntas informativas.5. Entregar el certificado de bautizo en la oficina de Educación Religiosa6. Asistencia tanto de los padres, como del alumno a los talleres de

preparación para Primera Comunión.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION PROGRAMReligious Education classes are offered for all children and youth from kindergarten thru 12 th grade. Classes meet for one hour a week throughout the school year, September thru May, and are taught by volunteer catechists at the parish. Multiple sessions are offered on Sunday, Monday, and Wednesday in order to give families an opportunity to choose the session that best fits their schedule. Adult enrichment classes are also offered on Tuesday evenings and Wednesday mornings.

For families whose schedule does not allow them to attend classes at the parish, we offer the Family Catechesis Program. This home-based method provides a faith education by giving parents the lead role as catechist. It enables one-on-one catechesis, allows the material to be paced and tailored for each child and encourages family communication while developing the concrete application of faith principles in the home. We supply parents with the necessary materials to complete the at-home program, including a curriculum guideline and recommended teaching topics. This method is not for every family. It is time intensive (1 to 1.5 hours per week, per child) and requires self-discipline, along with an understanding of the basic faith principles of the Catholic Church. There are quarterly mandatory meetings to monitor progress of the material so that completion credit can be given at the end of the year. This is not an accepted method for sacrament preparation.

Religious Education curriculum for kindergarten thru 6th grade is the Alive in Christ series or Vivos en Cristo, for bilingual classes. All curriculums are from Our Sunday Visitor, and are approved under the new curriculum framework guidelines set by the USCCB.

Sacrament PreparationBy virtue of their baptism, your child has been called to participate in the sacraments of the Church and it is foundational to sustain the faithful in union with the very life of the Trinity. As previously noted, education should begin in the child’s earliest years. However, for purposes of proper catechesis, the Diocese of Austin requires a minimum of two (2) full year's preparation before reception of the sacraments, First Communion and Confirmation. Parents should understand that preparation can be extended if the student does not adequately express an understanding of the faith concepts for their age and grade level.

Preparation for First Communion and First Reconciliation largely occurs in the child’s 2nd grade year. Classes are offered in both English and Spanish. In order to celebrate the sacraments of Reconciliation and First Communion, the student must complete the following:

1. Two (2) full years of participation in a Religious Education class. {preferably beginning in kindergarten; family catechesis is accepted as credit for kindergarten and first grade instruction}

2. Regular attendance at Sunday Mass; this is a must for students to understand classroom instruction.

3. Regular class participation with a maximum of 4 absences per year. 4. Provide a copy of Baptismal Certificate at registration.5. Parent attendance at informational meetings.6. Parent and child attendance at First Communion Workshop.

Los niños mayores de 2º grado (más de 8 años de edad) que no han recibido el sacramento de la Primera Comunión serán colocados en una clase multigrado durante un mínimo de 2 años y se preparan para el sacramento de la Primera Comunión; las clases serán en Inglés y Español. Preparación adicional incluye:

1. Dos años completos de preparación Sacramental2. Asistencia y participación a la Misa Dominical. La asistencia regular a

misa es crucial para la adecuada formación de los estudiantes en la fe católica.

3. Participación regular a clases con no más de 4 ausencias por año. 4. Asistencia de los padres de familia a las juntas informativas.5. Entregar el certificado de bautizo en la oficina de Educación Religiosa6. Asistencia tanto de los padres, como del alumno a los talleres de preparación

para Primera Comunión.

CONFIRMACIÓN Para la confirmación se requiere un mínimo de 2 años consecutivos de educación religiosa. Para mantenernos al tanto con las políticas de la Diócesis, el sacramento de la Confirmación se recibirá cuando los alumnos estén crusando el grado decimo (10) de High School. Preparación debe comenzar con la instrucción de grado 7. Clases de educación religiosa que se ofrecen en tercero a sexto grado son la base para la preparación de confirmación.

Rito de Iniciación Cristiana Adaptada para NiñosNiños y jóvenes de edades entre los 8 y los 18 años que no han sido bautizados pero que desean ser parte de la Iglesia Católica se les invita a tomar el programa de RICA adaptado para niños. Estos niños y jóvenes pueden recibir esta formación por iniciativa propia o de los padres de familia. Este proceso prepara al niño para los sacramentos del Bautismo y la Eucaristía. Los niños son animados a continuar su camino de fe con la inscripción en los años siguientes para la catequesis grado y grupo de jóvenes que se preparan para el Sacramento de la Confirmación. Se anima a los padres a asistir a las clases con los niños o asistir a clases para adultos Estudio de la Biblia para renovar su fe.

Children older than 2nd grade (over 8 years old) who have not received the sacrament of First Holy Communion will be placed in a multi-grade class for a minimum of 2 years and prepared for the sacrament of First Holy Communion; classes are offered in both English and Spanish. Additional requirements include:

1. Two (2) full years of participation in a Religious Education class. (family catechesis is not acceptable preparation)

2. Regular attendance at Sunday Mass. Regular attendance at Mass is crucial for the proper formation of the students into the Catholic faith.

3. Class participation with a maximum of 4 absences per year.4. Provide a copy of Baptismal Certificate at registration.5. Parent attendance at informational and faith formation meetings.6. Student and parent attendance at mandatory sacrament preparation workshop.

CONFIRMATION Preparation for the sacrament of Confirmation is a minimum of 2 years consecutive religious education. In keeping with the Diocesan policy, the sacrament of Confirmation is generally received when a student is in the 10th grade of high school. Preparation should begin with 7th grade instruction, if not earlier. Religious Education classes offered in 3 rd thru 6th grade are the foundation for confirmation preparation.

Rite of Christian Initiation Adapted for Children (RCIA)Children and youth, ages 8 to 18, who were not baptized as infants but desire to enter into the Catholic Church are welcomed into the RCIA process adapted for children. These children may seek Christian initiation either at the direction or permission of their parents/guardians, or on their own initiative. This process prepares the child for the sacraments of Baptism, and Eucharist. Children are encouraged to continue their faith journey with enrollment in the following years for grade level catechesis and youth group as they prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation. Parents are encouraged to attend classes with the children or attend Adult Bible Study classes to renew their faith.

PRAYER

A large part of our faith is prayer. Parents are encouraged to pray daily with their children. “By reason of their dignity and mission, Christian parents have the specific responsibility of educating their children in prayer, introducing them to gradual discovery of the mystery of God and to personal dialogue with him. The concrete example and living witness of parents is fundamental and irreplaceable in educating their children to pray. Only by praying together with their children can a father and mother – exercising their royal priesthood – penetrate the innermost depths of their children’s hearts and leave an impression that the future events in their lives will not be able to efface.” (On the Family, Saint John Paul II, 1981)

INFORMACION GENERALMay 13, 2023

ASISTENCIAEl calendario de Educación Religiosa consiste en aproximadamente 27 clases. Favor de ver el calendario para mayor información en relación a las fechas en que se llevaran a cabo las juntas. Los alumnos que se estén preparando para recibir los sacramentos, deben acudir a talleres obligatorios, así como retiros y juntas para padres.

Aquellos alumnos quienes pierdan 25% de sus clases o bien no asistan a 4 o mas clases, no recibirán la acreditación anual. Así mismo, si su hijo/a se esta preparando para recibir algun sacramento y no acude a varias sesiones, no podrá realizar sus sacramentos. Las disculpas por escrito serán evaluadas como casos individuales.

La asistencia es extremadamente importante! Hay cierto trabajo que puede recuperarse en casa, pero las experiencias de trabajar en equipo no pueden ser recuperadas. Los padres de familia deben hacer su mayor esfuerzo, para que sus hijos asistan a clase a tiempo.

REGISTRO DE CLASETeniendo en cuenta la seguridad de los alumnos, TODOS los alumnos de educación primaria deberán ser llevados al salón de clase por sus padres, guardianes o persona que los traiga a clase. Estos deberán firmar el registro de clase tanto a la entrada del alumno, como al terminar la clase. Esto es por la seguridad de sus hijos, además de ser un requerimiento de nuestra Diócesis.

LINEAMIENTOS EN CASO DE MAL TIEMPOSi los distritos escolares de Round Rock o Pflugerville suspenden clases el día en que se llevan a cabo las clases de catecismo, estas automáticamente quedaran suspendidas. Las clases tendrán lugar si había un retraso en el comienzo de la escuela. Si el clima cambia repentinamente en el transcurso de las clases, por favor utilice su propio criterio o bien, contacte al maestro de su hijo/a.

COMPORTAMIENTOSe espera que los alumnos se comporten de manera apropiada todo el tiempo, tanto dentro como fuera de las instalaciones. El comportamiento dentro de clase será con respeto y responsabilidad. Si el alumno no se comporta de manera adecuada será llevado a la oficina de Educación Religiosa. Tras tres llamadas de atención, se contactara a los padres de familia y se les pedirá que asistan a clase junto con sus hijos.

VISITASLos padres de familia son bienvenidos y pueden visitar a sus hijos en clase cuando quieran. Visitantes regulares deben llenar una forma de voluntarios, además de certificarse en el curso de Ética e Integridad EIM.

REMINDEstamos utilizando un servicio gratuito para aconsejar a todos los próximos eventos, avisos, cancelación de clases, etc. Por favor, registrarse para obtener REMIND enviando un SMS con el ID apropiado al número proporcionado. Tenga en cuenta que existen diferentes identificadores para cada grupo clase y la juventud. Se les pide a los padres a inscribirse cada año como listas y clases de tiempos pueden cambiar.

INSCRIPCIONESLa inscripción para el año escolar serán aceptadas hasta el 1 de octubre; un cargo adicional de $ 10 será evaluado para todos los registros recibidos después de administrar el 30 de agosto de preferencias para los feligreses registrados de Santa Isabel de Hungría Iglesia Católica. El 1 de octubre, los padres tendrán la opción de inscribirse en Catequesis Familiar. Los estudiantes que soliciten recibir preparación sacramental no son elegibles para la Catequesis Familiar.

COSTO {tasas de registro están sujetas a cambios sin previo aviso}A nadie se le dio la espalda al programa debido a su incapacidad para pagar; becas están disponibles. Las cuotas de inscripción son los siguientes: $ 50 por niño, (hasta 3 niños) fuera de los gastos de preparación de Sacramento. Hay una tarifa de alimentación adicional de 20 $ evaluado para todas las clases de preparación para la Santa Cena (segundo grado o año 2 de la preparación). Un depósito de $ 20 es debido al momento de la inscripción. Los hijos de nuestros catequistas que trabajan como voluntarios semanales están exentos del pago de inscripción. GENERAL INFORMATIONATTENDANCEThe Religious Education calendar consists of approximately 27 class sessions. Attendance is extremely important! Some class work can be made up, but the community and fellowship a student experiences during class time cannot. Parents should make every effort for their children to attend each class and to bring them on time.

Children who miss more than 25% of their classes or 4 or more classes will not be given credit for the year. Additionally, if the child is preparing to receive a sacrament and has multiple absences, they will not be allowed to receive the sacrament that year. Excused absences will be handled on an individual basis.

Please refer to the annual calendar for specific meeting dates, holidays and Holy Days of Obligation. Every effort will be made not to deviate from the calendar. However, if a change does arise, parents will receive notice via email, text, and written notice. Sacrament preparation requires additional mandatory workshops, retreats and parent meetings. Students will receive an additional calendar specific to their sacrament class.

CLASS SIGN-INWith the child’s safety in mind, ALL elementary students, including 5 th graders , must be signed in and out of class by a parent, guardian or another parent-approved person listed on the child’s registration form; this does include middle school siblings. This is for the child’s safety and is a Diocesan requirement. Please be understanding of this policy.

BAD WEATHER POLICYIf on any scheduled day of Religious Education classes the Pflugerville or Round Rock public schools are closed due to inclement weather Religious Education classes will be automatically canceled. Classes will be held if there was a delay in school start time that day. If the weather becomes threatening please use your own judgment or contact the RE office or your child’s catechist. Inclement weather absences will not affect sacrament requirements.

BEHAVIORStudents are expected to conduct themselves in an appropriate manner at all times, both inside and outside the buildings. Classroom behavior will be caring, respectful and responsible. If a child is being disruptive they will be removed from their class and brought to the RE Office. After 3 instances, parents will be contacted and asked to accompany children during class time.

VISITORSParents are welcome to visit their child’s class at any time. Regular visitors are asked to sign a volunteer form and become EIM certified.

REMIND We are using a free service to advise everyone of upcoming events, notices, class cancelation, etc. Please sign up for REMIND by texting the appropriate id to the number provided. Please note that there are different id’s for each class and youth group. Parents are asked to sign up each year as rosters and classes times may change.

REGISTRATIONRegistration for the school year will be accepted until October 1; an additional $10 fee will be assessed for all registrations received after August 30. Preference is given for registered parishioners of St. Elizabeth. After October 1, parents will have the option of enrolling in Family Catechesis. Students requesting to receive sacrament preparation are not eligible for Family Catechesis.

FEES {registration fees are subject to change without notice}No one will be turned away from the program due to their inability to pay; scholarships are available . Registration fees are as follows: $50 per child, (up to 3 children) excluding sacrament preparation fees. There is an additional supply fee of $20 assessed for all sacrament preparation classes (Second grade or year 2 of preparation). A $20 deposit is due at time of registration. The children of our Catechists who volunteer weekly are exempt from registration fees. Please contact the RE office at 512-251-9842 if this fee poses a hardship to your family. All fees may be paid in installments and are due by December 1.

LLAMADOS A PROTEGER A LOS MÁS PEQUEÑOSEn 2009, la Diócesis de Austin presentó “Llamados a Proteger a los más Pequeños” (Called to Protect for ChildrenTM) en conjunto con el programa adulto de Ética e Integridad en el ministerio y sus continuos esfuerzos de mantener a nuestros niños seguros. “Called to Protect for ChildrenTM” está diseñado específicamente para estudiantes de primaria grados K-5. El punto de este programa es ayudar a los estudiantes en el entendimiento de las reglas, toque apropiado y limites, como responder ante situaciones incomodas e introduce seguridad tecnológica. Amplio estudio se llevo a cabo para desarrollar este programa, y también fue revisado por profesionales catequéticos para asegurar que estuviera de acuerdo con el Catecismo de la Iglesia Católica.

El programa basado en clases será enseñado por su Maestro de educación Religiosa la primera semana de noviembre. Cada catequista tendrá un plan de lecciones apropiado para cada grado escolar e incluye actividades prácticas. La descripción para cada grado escolar se detalla abajo:

Kínder  / Reglas del Cuerpo / construyendo habilidades de limite físico; reforzar los conceptos de reglas y como estas nos mantienen seguros; reglas para mantener su cuerpo seguro y sano y establecer reglas de toque apropiadas.

Primer Grado / Reglas de interacción con los demás. (incluye información sobre intimidación) / construyendo habilidades de limite físico; las interacciones pueden afectar como nos sentimos; tipos de sentimientos básicos; intimidación y como se sientes los niños; decirle a alguien sobre personas o momentos que los hacen sentir con rabia, tristes o con miedo.

Segundo Grado / Escuchando tu Intuición / construyendo habilidades de límites de comportamiento; ya que conocemos nuestros sentimientos, a veces nos sentimos raros cuando nos dicen que hagamos algo que rompe una regla o parece peligroso.

Tercer Grado / Secretos: Aquellos que se cuentan y aquellos que no / construyendo habilidades de límites emocionales y de comportamiento; algunos secretos son buenos pero otros no; decidiendo que secretos deben ser guardados y cuales se deben decir a un adulto de confianza.

Cuarto Grado   / Amistades Sanas (incluye información de abusos entre amigos) / habilidades de límites de comportamiento; interacciones entre amigos y como algunas son sanas y otras no; aprender buenos límites entre amigos y adultos.

Quinto Grado / Privacidad Sana (incluye información sobre seguridad en la internet) / habilidades de límites de comportamiento; reforzar el concepto de privacidad apropiada; cuando se le debe decir a un adulto cosas que son privadas o secretas; dando mucha información a las personas por internet.

CALLED TO PROTECT FOR YOUNG CHILDREN In 2009, The Diocese of Austin introduced Called to Protect for ChildrenTM . in conjunction with the adult Ethics and Integrity in Ministry program and their continued efforts to keep our children safe. Called to Protect for ChildrenTM is designed specifically for elementary grade students K-5. The focus of this program is on helping students understanding of rules, appropriate touch and boundaries, how to respond to uncomfortable situations and introduces technology safety. Extensive research went into the development of this program, and catechetical professionals reviewed it as well to ensure adherence to the Catechism of the Catholic Church.

The program is classroom based and will be taught by your child’s Religious Education Teacher the first week of November. Each catechist will be provided with lesson plans that are grade level appropriate and include hands on activities. Kindergarten / Rules about the Body / building physical boundary skills; reinforcing the concept of rules and how rules keep us safe; rules to keep you bodies safe and healthy and establishing rules for appropriate touch.

First Grade / Rules for Interacting with Others (includes information on bullying) / building emotional boundary skills; interactions can affect how we feel; basic types of feelings; bullying and how it makes kids feel; telling someone about people or events that make them feel mad, sad or scared.

Second Grade / Listening to Your Intuition / building behavioral boundary skills; since we know our feelings, we sometimes feel funny if asked to do something that breaks a rule or seems dangerous.

Third Grade / Secrets: Those You Keep and Those You Share / building emotional and behavioral boundaries; some secrets are good and some are not; making decisions about which secrets can be kept and which should be told to a trusted adult.

Fourth Grade / Healthy Friendships (includes information on peer to peer abuse) / behavioral boundary skills; peer to peer interactions and how some are healthy and some are not; learning good boundaries with friends and adults.

Fifth Grade / Healthy Privacy (includes information on Internet Safety) / behavioral boundary skills; reinforcing the concept of appropriate privacy; when you must tell adults some things that are private or “secret”; giving out too much private information to people on the internet.

CALLED TO PROTECT FOR YOUTH

Middle school students in sixth grade will learn ways that they as teenager’s, can safeguard their physical, emotional and behavioral boundaries. As Catholics, we believe that every human being is created in the image and likeness of God. Each of us is sacred and our lives — body, mind and soul — should be treated with respect. Classes are taught by a Diocesan approved facilitator using the Called to Protect for Youth series. This program gives teenagers the practical tools in a language they can understand, to realize this fundamental teaching of our faith. Classes will be taught the second and third weeks of January.

Classes are repeated when students enter high school, as their development and understanding of these topics has changed. Notification will be sent prior to the workshop being presented.

LLAMADOS A PROTEGER PARA JÓVENES

Los estudiantes de secundaria en los grados sexto aprenderán maneras que ellos como para adolescentes, pueden salvaguardar sus límites físicos, emocionales y de comportamiento. Como católicos, creemos que cada ser humano es creado a imagen y semejanza de Dios. Cada uno de nosotros es sagrado y nuestra vida - cuerpo, mente y alma - deben ser tratados con respeto. Las clases son impartidas por un facilitador Diocesano aprobado mediante el llamados a proteger a la juventud para la serie. Este programa ofrece a los adolescentes las herramientas prácticas en un idioma que puedan entender, para darse cuenta de esta enseñanza fundamental de nuestra fe. Las clases serán impartidas la segunda y tercera semanas de enero.

Las clases se repiten cuando los estudiantes ingresan a la secundaria, ya que su desarrollo y comprensión de estos temas ha cambiado. La notificación se enviará antes del taller se presentó.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIESStudents are taught by catechists (teachers) who donate their time and talent to the children of our parish. The fundamental task of a catechist is to be a witness of the Catholic faith by proclaiming Christ’s message, developing community, leading people to worship and prayer, and motivating them to serve others (NCD 213). The requirements for this ministry are:

EIM (Ethics and Integrity in Ministry) Certified (see below) Baptized, fully initiated, practicing Catholic Not younger than 18 years of age for Catechists, 14 years of age for Classroom

Assistants. If married, marriage is recognized by the Catholic Church. Willingness to attend all catechist training and formation workshops.

In addition to catechists, there are numerous other volunteer opportunities in the Religious Education program with varying time commitments:

Weekly Office Volunteer (answering phone, copies, filing, mail outs, etc.) Substitute Catechist Special events (registration, prayer services, sacraments and retreats

Ethics and Integrity in MinistryAll volunteers, both catechists and office volunteers over the age of 18 must be EIM certified. Workshop attendance is required every 3 years after the initial EIM Basic Workshop. There are three (3) steps required to become EIM compliant:

1) Submit an EIM application (online https://www.eappsdb.com/login.asp?orgz_key=4 or paper copy). NOTE: The application is only submitted one time; the background check is automatically rerun every 3 years from the date of your application submission and does not require any additional action on your part.

2) Application generates a confidential, criminal background check, (A background check is completed every 3 years from the date of your initial application submission; this is an automated process that does not require any additional action on your part,) and

3) Attend a 2 ½ hour EIM Workshop which teaches participants about boundaries, warning signs, appropriate interactions in our work with minors and vulnerable adults, how to respond to incidents and reviews diocesan EIM policies. Workshop attendance is required within 60 days of submitting the application.

OPORTUNIDADES DE VOLUNTARIADOLos alumnos aprenden gracias al apoyo de catequistas voluntarios, quienes donan su tiempo y su talento a los niños de nuestra Parroquia. La tarea primordial de un catequista es ser testigo se la Fe al proclamar el mensaje de Cristo, desarrollar un sentido de comunidad, guiar personas tanto a la adoración, como a la oración y motivar a la gente para servir a los demás. (NCD 213).

Los requerimientos para este Ministerio son: Estar certificados, o bien certificarse en el Ministerio de Etica e Integridad. Cabe

mencionar, La persona debe estar bautizada y ser católico practicante. No ser menor a 18 anos de edad en caso de ser catequista y 14 en caso de ser

asistente en el salón. En caso de ser casados, el matrimonio debe ser dentro de la Iglesia Católica.

Voluntad de atender a todos los entrenamientos para catequistas y talleres de formación. Voluntario semanal en la oficina (contestar el teléfono, sacar fotocopias, archivar,

enviar correos electrónicos, etcétera) Catequista suplente Eventos especiales (inscripciones, servicios de oración, sacramentos y retiros

Etica e Integridad Ministerio

Todos los voluntarios, los catequistas y voluntarios de la oficina sobre la edad de 18 años deben ser EIM certificada. Taller de asistencia es necesaria cada 3 años después el taller básico inicial de EIM. Hay 3 tres pasos necesarios para convertirse en EIM obediente:

3) Asistir a 2 ½ horas en la EIM Taller Básico, que enseña a los participantes acerca de los límites, señales de advertencia, interacciones adecuadas en nuestro trabajo con menores y adultos vulnerables, cómo responder a los incidentes y revisar la política diocesanas EIM. Se requiere asistencia al taller dentro de los 60 días de haber presentado la solicitud.
