WHO WE ARE• Future Business Leaders of
America is a nationwide network of over 250,000 student leaders preparing for careers in business
• South Carolina FBLA is one of the original first five chapters chartered. Currently with 103 active chapters and over 2,650 members across South Carolina, we are the premier business student organization preparing students for careers in leadership and business related fields!
WHAT WE DO• As a member of FBLA, you will get the
chance to…– Attend local, state, and national
conferences– Participate in competitive events– Develop business and leadership skills
as you become a local, state, or national officer
– Network with thousands of members just like you
– Get involved in your local community– Develop skills and discover talents that
you will carry into your future career
Our History
In 1937, Hamden L. Forkner proposes the concept of FBLA to business teachers
In 1947, Greenville High School chartered the first chapter in South Carolina
In 1949, South Carolina FBLA is given an official state charter from FBLA-PBL , Inc.
In1996, the SC Department of Education gave control of FBLA to the SC FBLA Board of Directors and the SC FBLA Executive Council

• All competitive events are unique– Team Events– Individual Events– Chapter Events– Skills Tests– Objective Tests– Presentations– Judge Interviews– Case Studies
COMMUNITY SERVICE• Local chapters conduct
community projects throughout the year– Food Banks– Animal Shelters– Local events– Habitat for Humanity
• Shriners Hospital for Children: Bear Cub Project– Participate in SC FBLA’s biggest
service project by donating Build-a-Bears to be given to the children at Shriners Hospital for Children!
– Donations are collected at the State Leadership Conference on March 20-21, 2015.
March of DimesDID YOU KNOW…that in the United States
1 in 9 babies is born prematurely?
• March of Dimes is the FBLA national service partner– The MOD Mission is to help make
sure every baby is born strong and healthy while bringing awareness and support for premature babies.
– At the 2014 NLC, FBLA-PBL announced that we have raised a total of over $400,000 for March of Dimes!
– Local and state chapters conduct fundraisers to show their support for March of Dimes!

State FallLeadership Conference
An innovative and exciting conference that will introduce and welcome all FBLA members and advisers to the 2014-2015 year!• When: October 4, 2014 • Where: Westwood High School in
Blythewood, SC (Columbia Area)• What: Workshops for members
and advisers, round table discussions, open competitive events, and exciting sessions!
Bring your local officers and members and let SFLC be your “Link to Success” this year!
District Leadership Conference
• Four District Leadership Conferences
• Top five in each event qualify for the State Leadership Conference
• To be held on February 7th 2015 in each district
• Opened to all registered members
State Leadership Conference
• March 20-21, 2015 at Embassy Suites/Charleston Convention Center in North Charleston
• Workshops, exciting sessions, college/business exhibitors, campaigns, and competitions!– Top three in all competitive
events qualify for national competition
National Leadership Conference
• June 29-July 2 in Chicago, IL!
