Differentiation Below Proficiency: I will be walking around helping all students with the centers. I will spend a little more time helping the students who need more help. Above Proficiency: Each center will challenge the students. They know the content but there will be some challenging problems for them. Approaching/Emerging Proficiency: Students will be able to complete each center but they will also be challenged with some problems. The kinesthetic learners get to actually act they are buying items in a store with the classroom store center. Auditory learners will get to direct instruction while I explain the directions for each center.

Objective(s): Students will be able to:

Apply the doubles plus one strategy to answer problems.

Participate in math centers using technology, and real world experiences.

Bloom’s Taxonomy Cognitive Level: Application

Classroom Management- (grouping(s), movement/transitions, etc.)

Teacher will countdown from 5 to get students’ attention.

Teacher will draw names for each center so there won’t be any arguing about who is paired with who.

Behavior Expectations- (systems, strategies, procedures specific to the lesson, rules and expectations, etc.)

My expectations of my students’ behavior is that they will use all of the materials respectively and responsibly. I also expect them to listen to instructions when I am explaining the centers, and when it is time to rotate to a different center.

Minutes Procedures

5 Set-up/Prep: Teacher will set up the centers while the students are at music. Centers:

Kahoot Center (4 IPads)

Store Center (store Items, receipt sheet, markers, dimes and pennies)

Addition War Center (flashcards, dry erase boards, markers)

Time Puzzle Center (puzzle pieces)

2 Engage: (opening activity/ anticipatory Set – access prior learning / stimulate interest /generate questions, etc.)

Teacher will tell the students that they will be participating in centers to practice and review what we have been working on the past couple weeks.

5 Explain: (concepts, procedures, vocabulary, etc.)

Teacher will bring the students around to each center and explain the directions for each center.

Kahoot Center - Students will enter the pin and their initials for the kahoot. - Students will play kahoot until it is time to switch centers.

Store Center - One student will the customer. They will pick two items to buy.

Lesson Plan Template - One students will be the cashier. They will add up the total on their receipt. - If there is a third student in the group. They will be a customer too. The customer will give the cashier the total

amount in dimes and pennies. - The students will rotate jobs until it is time to switch centers.

Addition War Center - Students will split the cards up so they each get the same amount. - Students will flip their card and write the problem on their dry erase boards. - The students with the highest addend wins the cards.

Time Puzzle Center - Students will try to find the correct digital time pieces to the correct analog time pieces.

30 Explore: (independent, concreate practice/application with relevant learning task -connections from content to real-life experiences, reflective questions- probing or clarifying questions)

Students will get to practice what they have been learning in math with the centers. Students will get to practice independently and they will get to work together. During the store, students will get to practice real life experiences by becoming a cashier and customer at a store.

3 Review (wrap up and transition to next activity):

Students will participate in the centers until it is time to line up for gym.

Students will clean up their areas.

Formative Assessment: (linked to objectives) Progress monitoring throughout lesson- clarifying questions, check- in strategies, etc.

Teacher will walk around helping the students and observing their work.

Consideration for Back-up Plan:

Teacher will have extra back up centers if any of the planned centers do not work. We have bags with games for centers in the classroom so if needed I will use one of those.

Summative Assessment (linked back to objectives)

There is really no summative assessment during this lesson. It is mostly for practice for the students. There will be more formative assessment throughout the lesson.

Reflection (What went well? What did the students learn? How do you know? What changes would you make?):
