Reflection Amnahmalihah Bt MarzukiFor to assignment, we have to write one detailed lesson plan for English subject for a mixed ability class. While deciding to choose which year that we are going to do, we had chosen Year 3 since we already had the textbook. Next, since there was no specific topic for this assignment, it took few days to select which topic that we are going to use. While deciding the topic and activity, we tried to think if we were the pupils, what kind of topic and activity that we would like to do in class. We were wondering if my lesson could be too dull or over. Therefore we went to the library to look out for few tips on effective learning. Fortunately, we found a suitable book that gave us an idea to prepare a lesson plan.Next, we discussed a suitable activity for Year 3 pupils. During the discussion, each of us gave several ideas for the activities such as telling stories, sing and dancing. Besides, we also planned to do some outdoor activities likes treasure hunt or explore things outside from the classroom. However, outdoor activities might need more time as well as full cooperation from the pupils for the whole period. In the end, we chose to do indoor activities which are singing and watching video as it is interesting. Moreover it is convenient for teachers to conduct activities with the pupils. In this lesson plan, we had decided to do an activity that involved interpersonal skills where the pupils interacted and communicate with peers. Meanwhile, we also wanted to emphasis on kinaesthetic intelligence so that pupils could express themselves through movement (Reid & Green, 2009). We believed that throughout the activity, pupils would probably remember information easily thru hands-on experience. Apart from that, in my opinion, we tried to encourage pupils to speak out their opinion during question and answer session. However, we probably should throw some questions to certain pupils that seemed less focus or quiet in class participation. Therefore, in the next lesson plan, I should be sensitive about my pupils so that I knew which pupils that I should try to take out from their comfort zone and let their voice out.As I revised again my lesson plan, I noticed that I might not manage the required time during the real lesson take place. In a short time, pupils might not be able to decorate the mask and express their feeling well. Thus, in the next lesson, I must be careful with the time management as it is vital to be on the track.Apart from that, I think we should include more animals to widen their knowledge. All in all, I could say that I have learnt a lot thru this assignment likes, how to choose suitable activities, how to deliver effective instruction as well as the importance of cooperation in teamwork. In the future, if I were given the same chance to prepare activities for pupils, I will definitely use this experience as my reference and try to make it better than this.
