Topic : Body Coordination.

Theme : Maintenance and continuity of life.

Objective : i) Analysing nervous coordination.

ii) Understanding the role of proprioceptors in maintaining balance and

coordination.

Learning Outcomes: By the end of the class, students should be able to:

i) State what receptors and effectors are.

ii) State the functions of receptors and effectors.

iii) Explain with examples what a reflex action is.

iv) Describe a reflex arc.

v) Illustrate the path taken by an impulse in the reflex arc.

vi) Explain what proprioceptors are.

vii) Explain the importance of proprioceptors.

Moral Values: i) Appreciate the God’s creature.

ii) Tolerance and respect with each other.

Educational Emphasis: Generating ideas, relating, sharing the information.

Teaching Procedure:

Set Induction (5 minutes)

Teacher shows computer simulations about the path taken by an impulse in a reflex arc.

Students gain a new idea about the path taken by an impulse in a reflex arc.

Development (30 minutes)

Teacher explains about receptors and effectors and its functions using power point.

Teacher discusses about the reflex arc and the example of reflex arc such as knee-jerk and reactions to touching a hot or sharp object.

Teacher asks student group in pair and carries out activity about the knee-jerk reactions.

Teacher draws a diagram in a whiteboard to show the path taken by an impulse in a reflex arc.

Teacher explains about the proprioceptors using power point.
