To make students use their previous knowledge. To help students identify various uses of the modal verbs and use can/could, may/might and must correctly in sentences. SPECIFIC AIMS: - By the end of the lesson: Students will be able to compare major events in the history. Students will be able to use vocabulary related to the topic: nations, state and politics, history, mystery. Students will be able to compare various concepts related to the topic and discuss them. 1. Activity One- ConversationWarm-up (2 minutes)- organization of the class (the attendance of the pupils)

2. Activity Two - (15 minutes) –reading, speaking & new vocabulary words- The teacher asks the students to match the new words with some photos.- The students are asked to work with a partner and to talk about United

Kingdom using the new vocabulary words.- The teacher asks the students to read a text about the United Kingdom and

then discuss the new words.- A short discussion about the state and politics and introducing new

vocabulary words.

3. Activity Three – (22 minutes) - reading, speaking & new vocabulary words- The students are asked to answer some questions about a picture, from the

lesson, and if they don’t know the answer, to guess.- The students are asked to carefully read a short story about the mystery of

Louis XVII.- The students are asked to discuss and to answer a few questions in order to

solve the mystery of the plot.- The students are asked to read the last part of the mystery and to discover

the solution.- The students must match the underlined words from the text with some

definitions.

4. Activity Four- (10 minutes) – grammar- The teacher introduces a few modal verbs to the students: can/could,

may/might, must.- The students are asked to read some sentences and then to answer some

questions about modal verbs of speculation and deduction (present form).- The students are asked to choose the correct modal verbs in sentences.- The students are asked to fill in the gaps with the right modal verb.- The students are asked to read some sentences and then to answer some

questions about modal verbs of speculation and deduction (past form).

5. Activity Eight (1 minute) - Assessment.
