Unit: 18 “She can sleep”
Lesson: She can sleep
Textbook: Printha Ellis, Mary Bowen, WAYAHEAD, Pupil’s Book 1, MACMILLAN.
Lesson aims:
1. To allow pupils to practice ability , using the verb “ can “2. To allow pupils to practice writing and reading
Materials: textbook, worksheets, blackboard.
Anticipated problems -Pupils might find it difficult to use the verb can in sentences.-Possible solutions-to give a lot of examples with can and then, a lot of exercises.
Activity 1- Warm-up
Aim: to introduce pupils in the lesson
Procedure:
1. Teacher asks pupils some general questions, about how they are feeling.2. Pupils answer.3. Then, teacher checks homework.

Activity 2 – Speaking activity
Aim: to practice the use of “ can”
Procedure:
1. Teacher asks pupils to tell a sentence with the verb can : e.g. I can sing.2. Pupils must pay attention , in order to hear what every pupil says.3. After every pupil said a sentence , teacher puts questions: e.g. “Who can
sing?” and pupils answer: e.g. Alina can sing.

Activity 3- Writing activity
Aim: to make exercises
Procedure:
1. Teacher gives to pupils a worksheet with the verb can.2. Pupils work individually.3. After they finish, teacher together with the pupils check the activity at the
blackboard.4. Pupils correct themselvem.

Activity 4- Speaking actvity
Aim: to create a poetry
Procedure:1. Teacher writes on the blackboard some verbs .

2. Pupils have to make sentences with those verbs, using the verb can.3. If they are able, they can create a short poetry, which can rhyme (it’s not
really necessary to rhyme the poetry if the pupils aren’t able to create it with rhyme).
e.g. Mary can sing Alina can swim etc.
4. They write the poetry in their notebook.
