Meet Kenneth

He considers himself a nice guy, has some

good friends and most people like him.

He thought his life was pretty cool.

But like all of us do, Kenneth came across some rubbish in his life that he needed to

deal with…

…in fact one day Kenneth realised there was lots of

rubbish in his life he needed to deal with.

Self-conscious feelings

…rubbish such as…

Anger, jealousy and regret

…rubbish such as…

Fear

…rubbish such as…

Kenneth tried to sort his rubbish out…

…but more rubbished kept appearing and he didn’t know how to deal

with it!

Until one day Kenneth decided on what he thought would be an easy solution…

…he thought he’d dump his rubbish into his neighbour’s

garden.

The next day Kenneth’s neighbour Colin went into his garden to find out his garden

had been trashed!

An aggressive approach can often only cause more arguments between you and a bully and often make things worse.

A passive approach to bullying can mean the problem never gets solved, in fact it is likely to get worse as you will be

seen as an easy target.

You may now start to see the bullying as your problem that you have to deal with

and start to take it out on others.

life.

It could also mean the bully will have to start dumping his rubbish on someone else!

The hardest option is be assertive, but bullies are bullies often because they have rubbish in their lives that they need to deal with, but can’t

without help and support. It may not always be your help and support, but telling a teacher, parent or friend might be more appropriate.

Having rumours spread about you

Being ignored and

left out.

Racist or

attacks

Being pushed or

pulled

Abusing people on-line or by phone.

Why do Bullies dump rubbish?•They have their own problems - they

may feel upset or angry or feel that

they don't fit in - perhaps they have

problems at home? •Maybe they get bullied themselves, perhaps by someone in their own family or

other adults? •They're scared of getting picked on so

they do it first •They want to show off and seem tough because they are afraid of what people think of them •Many don't like themselves and so take it out on someone else
