BBC- Public Service• Paid for by the public and to a certain extend it is owned by the

public because of this.

• These are outlined as their public purposes:

• Sustain citizenship and civil society (keeping audiences up to date with impartial current affairs)

• Promoting education and learning

• Stimulating creativity and cultural excellence

• Bringing the UK to the world and the world to the UK

• Representing the UK

• Delivering to the public the benefit of developing technologies

Commercial Channels• Other channels in the UK are funded by

advertising and independent investors.

• This is funded through the use of sponsorships, adverts and product placement.
