Lesson 12 The Great Controversy · How will the great controv ersy between Christ and Satan finally...

4
that Satan has ingeniously prepared to dim the spiritual perceptions of those who have had but little experience in the workings of the Holy Spirit, and of those who remain satisfied with a very limited spiritual knowledge. The effort of seducers has been to undermine confidence in the truth of God and to make it impossible to distinguish truth from error. Wonderfully pleasing, fanciful, scientific problems are introduced and urged upon the attention of the unwary; and unless believers are on their guard, the enemy, disguised as an angel of light, will lead them into false paths.” White, Evangelism, p.359 18. How will the great controversy between Christ and Satan finally end? Matthew 25:41; Malachi 4:1 _____________________________________________________ “In the cleansing flames the wicked are at last destroyed, root and branch,-- Satan the root, his followers the branches. The full penalty of the law has been visited; the demands of justice have been met; and Heaven and earth, behold- ing, declare the righteousness of Jehovah… Satan's work of ruin is forever ended.” White, Great Controversy, p.673 Friends, before this great controversy is ended there will be one final contest between the church of Satan, symbolized by the first beast of Revelation 13, and the remnant of God. Revelation chapter 13 tells us exactly who this beast is, what his mark is and who will be receiving it. We will find answers to these questions in our next study. Is it your desire to be on the side of Jesus in this great controversy? ANSWERS: 1) It ended when war broke out in heaven. 2) Jesus. 3) All who worship God—His church. 4) Satan. 5) A Covering Cherubim—angel at the side of God’s throne. 6) No. He is a created being. 7) He became prideful and wanted to be God. 8) Satan was kicked out of heaven and allowed to test man in Eden. 9) He has lied and deceived man using agents to persecute and kill. 10) The promise of a Savior. 11) Rome—specifically ‘pagan’ Rome. 12) No. He continues to attack God’s church to this day. 13) ‘papal’ Rome. 14) By fierce persecution often resulting in the death of the believer if not converted to Catholicism. 15) God used the earth and it’s elements to hide His church from Rome. 16) They keep the Ten Commandments, including the fourth, and have the gift of prophecy—a prophet. 17) Beware of seducing spirits, false doctrines, false Christ's, and prophets. 18) Satan and his followers will be completely destroyed by fire… becoming ashes. 1. What happened to the unity and peace that was once in all Creation? Revelation 12:7, 8 ______________________________________________________ [The] work of opposition to the law of God had its beginning in the courts of heaven, with Lucifer, the covering cherub. Satan determined to be first in the councils of heaven, and equal with God. He began his work of rebellion with the angels under his command, seeking to diffuse among them the spirit of discontent. And he worked in so deceptive a way that many of the angels were won to his allegiance before his purposes were fully known. Eternal Truth Ministries Presents Lesson 12 “The Great Controversy” Studies on Bible Prophecy Studies on Bible Prophecy “...for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end.” Daniel 12:9 So far in our studies of bible prophecy we have noted that there are two sides in the battle that rages for planet earth. Determining exactly who the participants are in this cosmic conflict is very important for us today for it will give us a clearer idea of whose side we may actually be on. Very few people want to be on the side of evil but the devil is very deceptive and there are many who are on the wrong side in this battle that think they are on God’s side. Let us now take a closer look at the Great Controversy, which began so long ago…
