    Less Energy

Just 0.012 inch or 0.3 mm thickness of fouling on heat ex-changer tubes increases the fouling factor to 0.001 hr sq.ft Deg F/Btu and increases the compressor power con-sumption by 11%. The sludge and debris from the coolingtower that collects on your condenser, heat exchangerand other equipment forms an insulating layer that de-creases the heat transfer capacity of this equipment thatultimately leads to increased in power consumption.

The increased cost of power consumption will offset thecost of the filter. ACMV Filtration Systems effectively re-duce or eliminate buildup of deposits and maintain systemefficiency and lower energy costs.

    Less Downtime

The Cooling Tower System that is opened to the environment draws allkinds of contaminants that can cause severe fouling of your coolingsystem in chillers (condensers) or air compressor heat exchangers etcwhich can result in equipment breakdown as well as emergency main-tenance and cleanouts. ACMV Filtration System helps prevent theheat exchangers from fouling that results in emergency maintenance

and downtime. With ACMV Filters you achieve consistent and regularmaintenance that eliminates the cause of breakdowns.

The cooling tower draws airborne debris which comes inorganic and non organic forms are present in silt, dirt, earthand dust that enter the system. These airborne debris con-sumes and absorb the chemical additives used in the watertreatment and reduces the effectiveness of the chemicalprogramme.

An ACMV Filtration System removes these solid contami-

nants from the cooling tower system, permitting the chemi-cals to perform more effectively. The result is an enhancedwater treatment programme and an overall lower chemicalcost.

    Less Chemicals

The in-fills are the heat exchange surface of the cooling tower and thesheets of in-fill are assembled very close together. In addition, the in-fillsare wide in length. Cleaning the in-fills manually is almost impossible. Thebest solution is to keep the water free from solid contaminants and apply agood programme of chemical water treatment. The cooling tower filtrationsystem operates while the cooling tower is in operation and consistentlymaintains the water free from solid contaminants.

With the increasing cost of man hours and less availability of manpower, areduction in time consuming cleanout of condenser, heat exchanger, towerbasin, tower infills and other process equipment translates directly in bigsavings.

An ACMV Filtration System controls the accumulation of solid contami-nants, reducing or eliminating the need for costly cleanouts and other main-tenance.

    Filtration Mode

Water from the cooling tower ispumped through valve 1 (in thedirection indicated) and intothe overdrain assembly at thetop of the filter tank. The wateris distributed over the mediawhere suspended solids are

trapped between grains of filtermedia. The filtered waterdrains from the tank throughvalve 2 (in the direction indi-cated) and returns to the cool-ing tower.

    Backwash Mode

Backwash can be activated byan automatic timer, pushbuttonand/or pressure switch thatsenses a predetermined pres-sure differential across the filtertank. When backwash mode isactivated, valves 1 & 2 are

automatically repositioned.Water from the cooling systemis pumped through valve 2 (inthe direction indicated) and intothe underdrain assembly at thebottom of the filter tank. Themedia is flooded and trappedsolids are released. The dirtywater drains from the filter tankthrough the overdrain assemblypassing through valve 1 (in thedirection indicated) and isflushed to the drain.
