ARCHITECTURE"A WELL ORCHESTRATED EVER-CHANGING PROJECT"

The ground floor of this masterfully designed architectural gem is edged in stone openwork that accents its graceful silhouette. Amid this background, STELLA rises as an unexpected yet undeniable presence prominently and beautifully blending in with nearby buildings flanking the high street.

Its thoughtfully and congruently engineered façades lend to the mood here in the centre of Les Gets village, as if STELLA had always called this place home. Nothing here is feigned; these materials immediately express the authenticity of mountain life and the contrast of timeless modernity.

STELLA’s exterior follows deliberately subtle proportions. Its grey stone base anchors the property development and its retail spaces at the edge of Rue du Centre, creating a craggy latticework on the lower storey. Gables give the roomy balconies substance and stature creating a soft focal point that wraps around the whole building. As the eye moves upward, metal canted rooftops echo the terrain’s natural pitch and consecutively crown the building’s structures as they soften its stony figure.

The focus was to give STELLA a visage of organic materials with alternating series of the village’s signature natural larch wood siding and white finish clearly defining the spaces. Natural light pours in through the glass that defines the façade’s generous openings.

In an about-face on the inner side, stone accents underscore the inviting tranquillity of the landscaped oasis of trees dotted with wood patios on the garden level.

"A word from the architect"“For us, the STELLA development that will occupy the site where a hotel of the same name once stood is both atribute and an architectural challenge.

It is a tribute to the history of Les Gets, to the village’s deeply rooted tradition of hospitality, to these world-class places that had their heyday. We do not want that limelight to go out because those days of glory are what made this resort so wonderful. And a challenge in that we were not working with a blank slate, we were rebuilding and looking to revive the Les Gets skyline without changing it so its authenticity and way of life endure all year round.

It’s as if STELLA has been “part of the woodwork” forever. It blends right into the urban landscape as it elevates its calibre by fully achieving a mission to give this stretch of the road a modern aesthetic and the vibrancy of new visitors that makes Les Gets so appealing".
