    NATIONAL REGULATIONS

Site conditions must always comply with therelevant national regulations and installationsstandards.

    STORAGE

Leoline® rolls should be stored in either a athorizontal or vertical position. In order tominimise the risk of pressure marks when storingin a horizontal position, the rolls should not bestacked one on another. Do not store the rolls invery cold (less than 2C°), very warm (more than40°C) or humid places.

VISUAL INSPECTIONPlease inspect the product prior to installation.Check that the colours correspond to thoseordered, that the quantities are correct and thatthere is no visible damage to the sheet. Do notinstall any vinyl that displays any imperfections.

    SUITABILITY

    • Leoline®  vinyl can be laid on concrete, cementious screed, anhydrite (calciumsulphate), timber and ceramic tiles which havebeen suitably prepared (see Floor preparation).

    • Leoline®  vinyl can be completely bonded with

adhesives or as loose-lay, if limited to an arealess than 12m² and installed as one single sheet. For textile backed products, see the separateconditions and installation manual.

    • Leoline®  oors can be used with traditional

water-based under-oor heating and coolingsystems. Electric wire systems are notrecommended.

    • Leoline®  oors are only suitable for in-houseinstallation.

COMPOSITION, CONSTRUCTIONAND QUALITY OF THE SUBFLOOR

Knowledge of the composition and constructionprovides valuable information that allows you tocheck the acceptable humidity, compressive andtensile strength of the oor correctly. In additionit tells you what type of oor preparation andleveling compounds, adhesive and possiblemoisture barrier you may need during theinstallation process.

When faced with ambiguity or doubt about thequality or composition of your suboor, checkwith your adhesive and/or leveling compoundsupplier.

    Installation &

Maintenance The installation of Leoline® oors isstraightforward and follows the sameguidelines that apply to all qualityresilient oors.

INSTALLATION AND GENERAL MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS LEOLINE®

    Important:

Floor installation should not begin until theinstaller has assessed and approved thesub-oor or conditions.

    FLOOR PREPARATION

Good preparation is essential for a trouble-freeinstallation and is vital for an excellent oorappearance and adhesion. The nishedappearance of a Leoline® oor will be as good asthe quality of the base over which it is installed.

Any irregularities in the sub-oor will showthrough the nished oor. The sub-oor mustbe hard, smooth, clean, dry, free from defectsand t for purpose. When needed, scrape o andremove old adhesives and loose-laying levelingcompound. Make sure the suboor is at and freefrom chemical substances.

A suitable leveling compound should be usedto ensure that no irregularities show through

to the surface of the nished oor. However, the selection of suitable materials, includingsmoothing and leveling compounds and anyancillary products is dependent upon the end useof the completed ooring, and must be agreed bythe supplier of the preparative materials and theooring contractor.

Any proprietary materials used for oorpreparation must be used in accordance with themanufacturers’ recommended instructions. In allcases, the sub-oor must be suciently dry.

TEM PERATURE COND ITIONSBEFORE, DURING AND AF TERINSTALLATION

Leoline®t oors are best installed with a roomtemperature of between 18°C and 28°C and aoor temperature of above 15°C.

Installations in areas colder than recommendedwill make the sheets harder to handle and lessexible, whilst cutting will become more dicult.

For installations in areas warmer thanrecommended, we advise consultation with yourlocal installer on how to create the appropriateinstallation conditions.

A constant temperature, uctuating no more than5°C per day and not below the required 18°Croom temperature and 15°C oor temperature, should be maintained 24 hours before, during and72 hours after installation.

    ACCLIMATISATION

Leoline® oors have to acclimatise in theroom where the installation takes place or anequivalent area for at least 24 hours prior toinstallation, or until the product has achieved anambient temperature. Again, this is a minimumtemperature of 18°C and a maximum of 27°C.

Leoline® recommends cutting take place 24 hoursbefore installation. Unpack the Leoline® oor andcheck all sheets in daylight for possible defects ordiscrepancies in colour.

For two-meter width oor coverings, the sheetsshould then be rolled loosely and stored in anupright position for acclimatisation.

Four-meter width sheets should be cut to size andlaid at to acclimatise.

When cutting to size please consider the nature ofthe design and pattern. In the case of wood andtile styles Leoline® recommends that every sheetis installed in the same direction (a). In the casethat the design is one all-over colour or design,Leoline® recommends that every sheet is rotatedthrough 180° (b). If there is doubt, we advise tocheck with your IVC distributor.

    UNDERFLOOR HEATING

Leoline® oors can be used with traditionalwater-based under-oor heating systems, provided there is a lower constant roomtemperature of 18°C for the acclimatisationperiod, installation and 72 hours after installation.

The underoor heating must be graduallyincreased by increments of 5°C until it reachesthe standard operating temperature conditionswith a maximum temperature of 27°C. Forsuitability of the system please refer to themanufacturer’s instructions.

    Be careful whenstacking rolls.

Falling rolls cancause harm topeople and thesurroundingenvironment, and this may alsoresult in damageto the product.

    UNDERFLOOR COOLING

Leoline® can also be installed over oor coolingsystems; however, the supply temperature of thecooling water must not be reduced below thedew point temperature. Temperatures below thiswill produce condensation and can thereforedamage the oor covering. Thermostats in theroom must never be set at a temperature which ismore than 5°C lower than the room temperature.

    RECOMMENDED ADHESIVE S

Leoline® oors recommend to install with solventfree adhesives. IVC provides Xtraoor adhesives,

appropriate for eective and ecient installation. If you use other adhesives, please contact Leoline® or your retailer, who can provide a list of thoseappropriate.

    INSTALLATION FROM ONECOLOUR BATH

We recommend that you always use materialsfrom a single colour bath in one room, as wecannot guarantee a 100% match betweendierent colour baths.

The rolls, selected within one colour bath, shouldbe installed in the sequence of increasing rollnumber, with respect of the reverse layingdirection if the design requests it.

    FULLY BOND ED OR LOOSE-LAYINSTALLATION

If a room or an area is smaller than 12m² withoutany sliding furniture (dining-or oce chairs) andthe vinyl can be installed in one part/sheet, then aloose or fully bonded installation can be selectedas desired.

If a room or area is larger than 12m² or there issliding furniture (dining or oce chairs), or if thevinyl cannot be installed in one part/sheet, then afully bonded installation is recommended.

INSTALLATION AND GENERAL MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS LEOLINE ®

STEP BY STEP FITTING INSTRUCTIONS, USING ADHESIVES

    1. Place the sheets in position, cut seams with the double-cut method and trim to size.

    2. Fold back half of the sheet to reveal the suboor ready for the application of the adhesive. Priorto using the adhesive read the supplier instructions. Spread the right amount of adhesive, with

a notched trowel, equally over the suboor. After applying the adhesive and in accordance withthe instructions, allow the adhesive to partially dry (open time) until it reaches its initial bondingstrength, before returning the oor covering into place.

    3. Install the oor covering sheet avoiding bubbles, compressions and tensions. Check that the seam junctions are closed tightly together. Do not try to compress seams that cause curling. This curl ingis an indication that the sheets are not placed together correctly.

    4. To remove any bubbles, rubbing from the inside out should even out the oor. Use a rollingmotion to level out the adhesive; this should be done before the adhesive has fully dried.

    5. Repeat steps 1 to 4 with the second half of the sheet.

    6. Check all seam junctions and repeat the rolling motion as described in 3.

    7. Welding the seam together is recommended.

Follow the cleaning instructions for Leoline®oors which may be implemented 72 hours afterinstallation. Try to prevent the oor from cominginto contact with water during this time, as theadhesive is not completely dry.

    EXTERNAL CONDITIONS

The appropriate management of externalconditions can help protect the ooring, whichsaves time and expense on cleaning andmaintenance, and also extends its lifespan. Mostsoiling comes from an external source and is

transported indoors by foot and rolling trac. Ifdirt lodges under sliding furniture, the ooringwill not only be soiled but will also suer (light)damage in the form of scratches.

    ENTRANCE MATS

A proper clean-o zone is strongly recommended. It will reduce the soiling of the ooring by asmuch as 70%. Entrance mats, when properlyserviced, can eectively remove any abrasive andforeign materials from foot trac and cut downon tracked in water. Leoline® recommends aminimum of two full strides of entrance matting.Where possible, prevent dirt from reachingthe oor. A suitable barrier matting system willhelp prevent soiling and abrasive material fromentering a building and make maintenanceeasier. Regularly clean the clean-o zone so thatit functions optimally. Prevent bres from theclean-o mat from running or adhering togetherwith dirt. As far as possible, remove sand andadherent dirt such as chewing gum using a sprayor gum remover. Replace the clean-o mat intime to ensure an optimally functioning dirtentrapment zone.

Avoid rubber or latex backed mats as these mayleave stains.

    WELDING

Cold welding is the only option for ensuringclosed and tight seams. Leoline® recommendscold welding tapes from Werner MüllerKaltschweißtechnik. Please read themanufacturer’s instructions before applying.

    PROTECTION

Leoline® should be protected from exceptionalwalking conditions for 24 hours after installationand for heavy trac for 72 hours after installation,

in order to allow the adhesive to stabilise atconsistent temperatures between 18-27°C.

    FIRST CONTACT WITH WATER

Prevent the oor from coming into contact withwater for the rst 72 hours after installation, oruntil such time as all seams are welded. Hereafterthe adhesive is suciently resistant to water sothat the bonding strength will not be aected.

    CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

Appropriate maintenance procedures will helppreserve the appearance and extend the life ofa Leoline® oor. The frequency of maintenancewill depend on the amount and type of trac, degree of soiling and the oor colour and type. Some Leoline® oors have a PU lacquer on topof the resistant wear layer. This lacquer protectsagainst soiling and makes the overall maintenanceeasier. A PU lacquer also makes a prior treatmentwith protection polish unnecessary. For Leoline® oors without a PU lacquer, a gloss starter coatingcan be applied for extra protection of the surface.Follow the manufacturer’s instructions whenapplying the gloss starter coating.
