Secretary Report

This is the First Spiel for 2019.

We welcome aboard all new & old members & their

families into our ranks. Our Club AGM for 2019 has been down & the new

committee is President – Nick Mitchell , Secretary – Remains yours truly Wayne Booth, Treasurer – New

Andrew Smith. Club comp Directors – Grant Ryan &

George Leslie, Gear Stewart – Remains TK & A New Social committee, 3 Ladies – Una Durkin, Emily

Simmonds & Adele Purbrick. The Lennox Longboard Classic coordinators are again

George Leslie & Grant Ryan. The main initiative for the club in 2019 is a club trailer &

getting rid of the old warhorse, the Caravan. We have

followed up on funding, locally through council & Sport NSW with funding totaling $7000.

The Old Caravan over 18 years old ready for the

graveyard. THIS year We’ve had 2 rounds completed so far. With Club Round

wrap-ups later in this newsletter. 1ST signup day Feb round over 30 surfed the round. Juniors & Grommets

initiated rounds at half time. This continued in the March round, with a wrath of impending talent in our young

ones (grommets) . These sessions put on wide smiles on their dials. The young membership is a tribute to the club

the family background.

The February round was cancelled at half time. This was due to shark call from the duty lifesaver at Lennox Main

Beach. The Club shark flag was erected. This is a orange flag with a black shark on it. Our Management when this

happens again is 3 long siren sounds & utilization of the

said flag.

Another membership facet we’re bringing back with our club membership forms is a member profile….

This will introduce some of our members throughout the year.

Now we had our 1st club committee meeting at the Lennox Hotel. & Minutes of that meeting have been

posted out. But basically from that we did make a

decision on the Lennox Longboard Classic this year & yes it a go ahead. Dates being the 1st weekend in August 3rd

& 4th . The steering coordinators are again Grant Ryan & George Leslie. This year being our 22nd year. Major

Sponsors for this event look like being MP Plumbing &

Ripcurl Ballina.

further plans for a camping weekend away for the club ,

maybe Minnie Waters, Arrawarra, Point Plomer near Crescent.

Throughout the year I will inform you all of Comps coming up & access to their entry forms. For those

competitive few & those who like the Longboarding scene

Club Rounds Wrapup

Wrapup of our First Club round for 2019 , Feb round Held

last Sunday 10th @ Lennox Main. Our first club sign-on day this season. 25 individuals & families signing up. Big welcome to all the new members coming on board in 2019.. 24 surfed the round in trying Lennox Main Waves, 2- 4ft chunky at times with in coming tide , but a very straight sand bank, Making the waves difficult to get a good run. Surfed the 1st rounds only. Surf Club alert of 2 sharks coming our way. So a quick abrupt stop to our round. But before the Shark Call, was the first of many more this years Junior / Grommets surf on the Foreshore waves. The Groms loved it. Competing against each other, but having heaps of fun. Standout Longboarding for the Seniors was Rob Rye. & newcomers Tom Steele & Jackson Cochrane. So results following are the first rounds only 1sts. Andrew Thomas. Tom Steele. Jackson Cochrane. MARCH ROUND

Well we had our Club round for March Last Sunday 10th March. 30 Members surfed whilst a herd of grommets had a expression session at the half way mark. Bringing a smile to all their faces & a smile on the dial of all the seniors looking on. Sunday @ Lennox Main was a incoming tide small but surfable light winds variable at first, with the Noreasterly blustering up strongly toward the final stages of our round.. We welcome our new signings to the club. Especially to the Cahill Boys 1st outing with the club. Brendan (Dad) 2nd in the 1sts. & Tasman 4th in the 2nds final. they'll be around in the positions in future rounds. Winning the Day was to Will Petrie, Handling the small condition well & putting in the moves. & of course Eleanor Robertson best in the ladies, Longboarding in her final with her usual flair. with some of the best waves in her final of the morning , before the wind killed it. Thanks to Gav at the Lennox Surf Shop, Sponsor vouchers to Angus Gover & Tom O'Dwyer. And of course thanks goes to Will P for the BBQ & Happy Birthday on the Day to Meg Kay & Gary Alford..
