About the Project:

The Brighton Centre is a world renowned Conference and Concert Venue and hosts high profile events such as Political Party Conferences, Indoor Sporting Events and large music concerts.
GPT were asked to review the waste provision at the site following continual issues with service, poor recycling rates of less than 30% and a general lack of management information.
A full site review was undertaken and various waste streams identified. Recommendations were then made to the Site Manager to improve service, reduce costs and increase recycling rates.
Recommendations were made to implement a dedicatedFood Waste Solution, along with the consignment of otherwaste as Mixed Recylables and a dedicated Glass Wasteservice.
This would produce a solution achieving a 100% diversionfrom landfill for the site. However, it was felt that animmediate change to this waste service provision wouldhave proved logistically difficult therefore a service provisionwas implemented to allow for Dry Mixed Recyclables andGeneral Mixed Waste.
A Materials Recycling Facility (MRF) has been sourced enabling all theGeneral Mixed Waste from the venue to be subjected to a recycling programme ensuring that the maximum amount of waste is recycled.
