Sharpe’s Pottery MuseumDiscover the once prolific pottery industry of South Derbyshire from pipes and toilets to elaborate art pottery, including the famous Cornishware.

The Museum has an iconic kiln hovel at the centre, along with

‘A Toilet Story’ Exhibition and ‘The National Forest Gallery’. On your

visit take time to relax at Café Espresso or watch the children play on the Outside Playzone. Before you leave take a look at the Gift Shop which sells a range of locally sourced items perfect for that unique gift.Want to know more about the history of Swadlincote, visit the Magic Attic whilst you’re at the Museum. They have a large archive containing newspapers, photos and maps, revealing family histories and famous locals including Sir Nigel Gresley who designed the ‘Flying Scotsman’. Swadlincote WoodlandsSwadlincote Woodlands (15 minute walk from the market square) provides a green lung close to the town centre for the people of Swadlincote. Over the past 20 years this former opencast coal mining site has been transformed into 33 hectares of woodland. The park includes open space, woodlands, play areas and a viewing point looking across the town and valley. A network of footpaths

criss-cross the site and link to existing access points. In addition to the above facilities include a picnic area, climbing rock, nature areas, ponds, car parking and toilets.

Eureka ParkEureka Park (10 minute walk from the market square) is a traditional open park developed from a simple recreation ground during the 1920s and early 1930s. Named after a coal seam which runs beneath the park, it provides a green oasis close to the centre of Swadlincote and is used daily by many people, from dog walkers to school children, from sports clubs to walking groups. The Park has recently been restored with the reinstatement of historic features and original planting. Facilities include toilets, changing room, playground, crazy golf, natural water play, picnic and performance areas.
