+What is meant by the terms legal and ethnical?
+In threes… Spend 5 minutes to… Consider what copyright is. Try to list as many areas as you can think of where
copyright may be breached in the media.
+Copyright Protection Copyright is a big issue the media industry faces. Many people talk of
‘copyrighting a song but this isn’t really accurate. Legal protection is advised so that their original material cant be used in somebody else's name. However copyright can only be applied on the application of the idea, not the idea itself.
Copyright is a thing you have have not a thing you dodo. Copyright applies to work that is recorded in some way; rights exist in items such as literary, artistic, musical and dramatic work as well as films, sound recordings and typographical arrangements. It gives the author specific rights in relation to the work, prohibits unauthorised actions, and allows the author to take legal action against instances of infringement or plagiarism.

Pharrell Williams' and Robin Thicke's 2013 hit Blurred Lines did breach copyright, a court in Los Angeles has ruled.
Jurors decided that the track was too similar to Marvin Gaye's 1977 hit Got To Give It Up and ordered Williams and Thicke to pay $7.3m (£4.8m) in damages.
Speaking outside the court, the lawyer for Marvin Gaye's family revealed outside court that the case had originally been brought against them.
