Gala PrayerWe are in awe of you Jesus. We thank you for the story of legacy already in the books and we trust in you to continue to write the chapters. Jesus we thank you for the hearts in this room and in this community that have taken a piece of the burden of your heart to truly demonstrate your call to action for us to not just honor all life but to help lead a pro abundant charge for generations to come. May each of us tonight allow you to be in the midst of our stories and may we trust you to bring the hidden parts out of the dark and into your light. Jesus make us brave, make us bold, and remind us even when there is doubt, even when we feel alone you are always with us. May we continue to seek and find our hope in you and you alone. Thank you for our churches, our pastors, leaders, our families and this Legacy family. May Sheridan & Johnson counties lead the way in what a community ought to be.

Heidi’s StoryYour gifts to Legacy Pregnancy Center bring hope to women like Heidi every day. Thank you!!Fear and hopelessness are not uncommonly part of what clients bring with them to their first appointment at Legacy. Fear of a future that will be forever changed from what they may have imagined. Hope is like the light of the sun which has been hidden by the dark and stormy clouds of the present. Heidi was a new client who came to her initial appointment with fear and hopelessness shadowing her steps.

Heidi had big plans for her future. She was young and talented but never imagined herself as a mother. While the father of the baby told her that he would support whatever decision she made, Heidi struggled with depression and anxiety and the voices of most of the people in her life telling her that she was not capable of accomplishing anything as important as raising another living being. Heidi didn’t feel like a mom but seeing the little flicker on the screen of a heartbeat from the ultrasound told this mom that her baby was real. Talking and crying with the client advocate helped Heidi to sort out her own thoughts and feelings from those of the people around her. She had a chance to slow down and process this life-changing event. Staff prayed with her before she left and while she had come into Legacy planning on scheduling an abortion, she left feeling like she might have some different options. Some of those dark clouds had cleared to let a little sunshine into her situation and Fear didn’t seem so scary when it was in the light.

Heidi came back about a week later. She met with the nurse and client advocate and revisited what this new and unexpected situation might mean for her future. Strengths and possibilities were considered along with the weaknesses and unknowns.

Heidi felt like she had people on her side. She was starting to believe that she might be capable of raising this child. There were resources in the community made possible by people who cared about her and her baby even though they had never met ~ Love made tangible by something as simple as a box of food and a listening ear. Heidi now has a new perspective on her future. While the horizons look different and there are certainly mountains left to scale, there is Hope shining brightly. This journey will not be taken alone.

Amanda completed her ultrasound training in October and is now a Nurse Sonographer! The staff enjoyed our time with our trainer from NIFLA, Wade Wilson. He has a heart for this ministry and he taught us a lot. Amanda is doing well and has officially completed the nurse training for Legacy also. We will continue to do model ultrasound scans one day a month to continue to keep up on those new ultrasound skills. Amanda’s role is our Program Coordinator and PRN nurse.

Ultrasound training Update

Pregnant Models are needed for ongoing training. Training is scheduled the last Wednesday of the month.

Spots are limited so call in advance to schedule.

Volunteer Spotlight: Danette BaldacciA big Thanks to Danette Baldacci who came to Legacy graciously offering her talents and experience in whatever capacity they might be needed. She took on the big task of brainstorming an updated look for the downstairs Baby Boutique and then took the steps forward in making that vision a reality. We and our clients are loving the updated Baby Boutique! Thank you Danette!

Farewell to KendylMy time at Legacy was so special to me! I grew so much as a nurse and a person. I know that wherever I go, the Pregnancy Center ministry will be a part of my life. I am so thankful for my time there and I wish nothing but the absolute best to Legacy’s ministry and the women that they meet with. The Legacy staff are amazing women, and my lifelong friends. I can’t wait to see what God has in store for me in this next season of my life! Kendyl and her family moved to Florida. We wish them the very best.

See you June 13th. walk for Life .

Baby Bottle BoomerangIt is Baby Bottle Fundraiser time again. This is our 11th year and people really look forward to participating in this fundraiser and seeing the bottles filled. Last year, over $28,000 was raised from your loose change!

Churches who have previously participated receive a partnership form in early January. A church just chooses a date and returns the form! Your church liaison then picks up the bottles and bulletin inserts explaining the fundraiser from Legacy, places them in a prominent place during your fundraising dates, and returns the filled bottles to us 3 weeks later.

Nearly 1300 bottles and 1800+ bulletin inserts leave the Center this season. We are very grateful for the 30 churches and their liaisons who participated last year and would love to include your church this year!

If your church does not currently participate, needs a liaison, or you would like to volunteer during this busy time, please call Legacy at 307-673-4757 to find out how to get involved!

Change Coordinator VolunteerAre you a bank employee? Legacy is looking for a volunteer “Change Coordinator” for our annual Baby Bottle fundraiser, who can pick up change 1-2x/week during February--May and return the cash/receipts to Legacy for deposit. This volunteer needs to be a bank employee and have the permission of her/his bank to process the change in this manner. This reduces the amount of time staff spend waiting in line for change to be processed and allows bank employees to process the change during slow times at their bank.

Baby Boutique rennovationThe basement has been updated into an inviting Baby Boutique, thanks to the vision of one of our wonderful volunteers, Danette Baldacci. Clients earn “Baby Bucks” while progressing through our Earn While You Learn educational program and can then “buy” items from the Baby Boutique. Once the graduate the course the earn a new car seat. Having an updated and inviting space helps inspire clients to progress through the educational videos.

Donating with matching funds

Did you know? Your employer may match all or some of your charitable contributions! Check with your company’s HR department to inquire and for details regarding amounts, etc. Some programs cut a check if an employee volunteers a certain amount of hours. EMIT Technologies allows employees to nominate organizations for its community reinvestment program.

Here are some local employers with a matching gift program. If you know of more, please contact us!

Legacy’s Endowment

Making a lasting gift has never been easier! Legacy partnered with Frontier Asset Management for our Endowment Fund because of the ability to provide an opportunity for people to leave larger gifts to Legacy, yet invest the funds in a manner that aligns with our values:

“Through our Christian Worldview strategies at Frontier, we provide the opportunity for biblically responsible investing which empowers the Christian to support companies that seek to uphold Biblical values and to avoid companies that don’t. We scrutinize each fund to determine their involvement in abortion, pornography, anti-family entertainment, non-biblical lifestyle, tobacco, gambling, and alcohol. This financial product allows us to invest in companies that uphold the views and values of our Christian clients.”

Donating to Legacy’s Endowment

Choose a donation option: cash, stock transfer, or 1. estate planning.

Contact Crystal (Advancement Director) to receive 2. endowment donation instructions at 307-673-4757.

Giving Opportunities

Save the Date: walk for Life Saturday, June 13thWould you like to help sponsor the Walk? Your name or business will be included on the back of our Walk shirt, in our Press thank you, and newsletter following the event.

The clients you read about in our newsletter are only a small percentage of the nearly 600 clients that Legacy has served since we opened in 2009. Nearly 400 babies have been born in our community and more are due between now and the Walk! When you invite your family and friends to get involved with God’s work at Legacy by encouraging them to make a small donation to sponsor you as a Walker for Life, you impact people like Heidi, right here in the Sheridan & Johnson county area. The average walker raises $180, so everyone doing a small part truly makes a difference!

Consider joining (or starting) a Walk team at your church. Last year, walkers raised over $25,000! These funds help women and men in our community not only to choose life, but to develop the confidence and skills to become the best parent they can be, or choose the best parents possible for their child by making an adoption plan.

Easy-going 2-mile walk, starting and ending at •Legacy Pregnancy Center.Registration starts at 9 a.m. Walk starts at 10 •a.m. and most walkers finish by 10:45.No need to collect money—Legacy sends pledge •reminders to your sponsors.$200 in pledges earns a Walk t-shirt.•Can’t walk that day? NO PROBLEM! Walk any •other day. Can’t walk? NO PROBLEM! Seek pledges and •bike, scoot, or join us by faith.Family-friendly—the Walk is not a protest or •rally.

Sponsor A Day Calendar

We are grateful for your investment in the lives of young women, men, and unborn children. The Sponsor a Day program is helping us build a foundational income for the ministry of Legacy.

How does it work? It costs about $600 a day to run Legacy, so a partner that donates $50 a month ($600 year) is sponsoring one day of operations at the Center. A partner that donates $25 a month ($300 year) sponsors a half day of operations.

Partners who donate $25 or more a month, get to have a date of their choosing dedicated to their family. Thank you for your generous support of this ministry!
