Primary distribution circuit-breakerswith integrated protection, control and sensors
Rapid commissioning
Installation and commissioning is simpliied by a widely
conigurable protection and control unit. Thanks to this
innovative solution, the eVD4 can easily be integrated into theswitchgear.
The RBX615 protection and control unit with native IEC 61850
communication protocol allows the circuit-breaker to be
interconnected to the substation management system without
additional interacing devices.
The HMI and the substation management system allows
the user to easily adapt the protection and control logics,
provided in the preconigurations.
The simplicity o the circuit-breaker allows optimisation o
spare parts and speeding up o the maintenance operations.
Easy plant design
The eVD4 circuit-breakers greatly simpliy the design o the
electrical system establishing the current, voltage and type
o application. The protection o the plant is achieved by the
RBX615 protection and control unit, with the current-voltage
sensors and with the ive standard preconigurations.
The circuit-breaker itsel can be used in a wide range o
applications. This means that the circuit-breaker can be
selected early in the production cycle, even though some
o the details o the switchgear design are not yet deined.
Further, the vast range o other available accessories allows
that most requirements are met. The eVD4 is suitable or most applications, namely the
protection o cables, overhead lines, transormers, motors, as
well as other substation applications.
Switchgear simplification
The eVD4 medium voltage vacuum circuit-breakers satisy
most o the requirements o modern electrical installations.
The built-in protection and control unit RBX615, together with
integrated current and voltage sensors, considerably simpliies
the switchgear cabling activities and drastically reduces the
risk o errors.
This means less time required or engineering, cabling and or
the inal testing procedures (FAT – Factory Acceptance Test).
Operation o the circuit-breaker and protections is ensured
as all the components and protection and control unction
deault logics are actory-tested.
Combined current-voltage sensors
The eVD4 circuit-breakers use only current as well combined
current and voltage sensors (Combisensor) which are able to
measure current and voltage in each phase.Coverage o the whole range o currents and voltages
is guaranteed with just two sizes o sensors up to the
maximum rated current and voltage o the circuit-breaker.
The current is measured by a Rogowski coil: a uniorm
winding on a closed circular support with a constant cross-
section and without a erromagnetic core. The voltage
induced in the winding is directly proportional to the variation
in the let-through current.
The current sensors are characterized by the absence o
saturation and hysteresis phenomena and by measuring
precision or the ault currents up to the maximum setting
value or the protection thresholds. The voltage is measured by a capacitive divider: a cylindrical
metal electrode moulded in the sensor and acing the circuit-
breaker bushing. The output signal is a voltage d irectly
proportional to the primary voltage.
The voltage sensors are characterized by the absence o
erroresonance phenomena.

RBX615 protection and monitoring unit based on Relion®
technology
The RBX615 unit is dedicated to protect, control, measure
and supervise o utility substations and industrial electrical
systems.
The unit is compliant with the IEC 61850 Standard and utilizes
native GOOSE (Generic Object Oriented Substation Event)
communication.
In the power distribution switchgear, units equipped with the
Relion® technology can communicate with each other.
They can also communicate directly with the control system in
a substation control room through a network switch.
The RBX615 unit oers protection o overhead lines, cables
lines and distribution substation systems. The protection
unctions suit radial distribution networks regardless o the
grounding principle.
Standard Pre-configurations
The RBX615 protection and monitoring unit is available with
ive alternative pre-conigurations.
