Lowley, The Lonely Pumpkin By: Ada Johnson, Mia Larson, and Meredith Cole,
and of course Lowley
T’was Halloween night at the pumpkin patch, and there was nothing to be seen, not even
a rat. But in the corner, hidden from view there sat an old farmer and a little pumpkin too. “You
their young fellow, let me tell you a story about a pumpkin who was yellow, WOW”. As I sat
down he began to tell the tale of the yellow pumpkin who had about as many friends as a hay
bale. “
Lowley was the pumpkin’s name, and he didn't know it, but he was destined for fame.
For many years he was lonely, poor little pumpkin Lowley. Until one day he met a friend, who
he wanted to be with ‘till the end. They spent many years together even through the worst of
weather. Much to the pumpkins dismay, Thanksgiving was coming their way.

Different Kinds of Dreams
By Charlie Smith, 2nd Grade
A dream is something you imagine.
A dream can come from movies,
pictures, songs and books
when your mind keeps
thinking after you’ve gone to sleep.
A dream can come from a signal
from outer space like a flash of light
but then it’s gone.
A dream can come from the bottom
of the sea where there
are sharks, colorful starfish
and anglerfish with lights on their heads.
Sometimes bad dreams can come from
a land of venomous snakes!
And good dreams can come from Christmas,
Thanksgiving and the last day of school.
Good dreams come from memories
Of times with friends and family.

Don’t Put the Doom in Kingdom
By Lyssa Lashus, 5th Grade
In my early childhood, as a princess, no one appreciated what I did for them. I planted flowers that
smelled like sweet honey fresh from a beehive in my neighbors’ gardens because they were always complaining
about how much they wanted them. After I was done, the neighbors would rip the plants out of the ground and
throw them at me.
I would do countless other chores for them, but they would still give me a horrific time. I decided I had
had enough. I was going to make my own kingdom, my own people and my own worshipers. That way, I would
receive lots of appreciation.
After many years, my dream finally came true. My people gave me anything I desired: food, security,
entertainment. But I let the power go to my head, I became even more power-hungry. I wanted more.
I went to church to ask the priest what he thought would help me get more power. When I got to the
large, multi-colored, stained glass doors, the priest ushered me inside, then locked the doors and pocketed the
key.
“Why are you locking me in here,” I asked him angrily.
“To teach you a lesson,” he calmly replied. “You have been awful to all of us, Your Majesty. How
would you like it if someone treated you like that?”
“People did,” I answered sheepishly.
“Well, I doubt you liked it, so don’t treat other people that way. They dislike it too,” he warned. “Try
learning to appreciate what others do for you.”
From that day on, I helped people again. I praised them. I identified their hard work and thanked them.
But everyone thought it was all a joke. I needed to do something to make it up to my people. I decided to go on
a quest.
First, I would find a long-lost item close to my people’s heart and return it to them… but there weren’t
objects my people admired. Next, I would find the purest water on earth and bring it back for my people to
share. Where is the purest water and how would I
get there? Then, I would find some large felines to
protect the kingdom instead of having my people
risk their lives. But... how do I get the cats? How
would I train them? Just as I was about to give up,
an idea popped into my head: I would ask the
priest what he would do.
I ran up the church stairs, found the priest
and asked him.
“Well, I guess I would share with other
people and maybe right the lessons down
somewhere so my mistakes would not be
repeated,” he answered thoughtfully.
Of course! I would share the story of my
life with my people to show them what I have
been through and what I have accomplished. My words will
live on to guide the kingdom for generations to come. By Imani Alexander, 2nd Grade

The Invisible Poem
It moves by itself. It will never be seen. The only way to catch it is to climb a tree, find
the place where the clouds
come, then the invisible poem
will come floating down toward you.
To care for it give it lots of pink melon
and saltines and stinky cheese
and give it a soft, mellow sock bed
and then it will live with you forever.

I WISH
By Wyatt Wendel, 2nd Grade
I wish I had superpowers like flying or being invisible. I wish everything was made of chocolate. I wish I had a farm in my backyard. I wish I could be a part of ODD Squad and solve mysteries. I wish I could make people fall in love with everything. I wish everything that is extinct would come to life again. I wish that I could breathe under water. I wish I could be a dragon. I wish I could eat hot peppers without my tongue getting on fire. I wish there were zombies. I wish I could makes things come to life with my hands.

The One and Only Witch
"Wow, this is so much fun", said Ana. Dad was taking Ana and Benjamin out to test a drone from
his company. They came to a clearing in the woods. Benjamin placed the drone with the camera on the
ground, took the controls from Dad and the drone lifted over the trees. Suddenly it spots a moving object in
the sky. Benjamin flies the drone closer to the moving object. He cries out, "A witch, a witch, I think I see a
witch!". Ana and Dad look at the camera screen on the controls.
Dad said, "It does look like a witch".
Ana starts screaming, "Aaaah, a nasty green witch! Let's get out of here."
Benjamin said, "Look, it turned and saw the drone. I am pretty sure it is a witch!"
All of a sudden the witch went faster. Dad took the controls for the drone and made it fly faster. The
witch turned and hit the drone with her broom. The drone fell. Benjamin, Dad and Ana tried to find the
fallen drone. Next to a creek, Benjamin discovered the drone. Everyone saw some green gooey stuff on the
drone. Dad took the drone back to work and showed it to some scientist. They said that the green gooey stuff
looked like blood from an unknown creature.
The next day they went back to the woods with a different drone. They flew it again in the same area.
A witch was flying in the sky and they had the drone fly under it. The drone continued to follow it. The
witch did not see the drone and they were able to see where it lived. It flew to a mountain top. There was a
beeping noise and then the witch disappeared into a secret opening in the mountain. And they never saw the
witch again.

The Hike
It was a beautiful day so I decided to go on a hike. It was so beautiful and calm. The odd thing
is that I thought I kept hearing whispers in my ear. When it was about time to go home, I got lost and ended up staying till’ dark. I went deeper into the forest, but kept hearing footsteps behind me. I started to run. I started to see my house, but it seemed as if every time I moved a step closer it got further away. I started full out sprinting, and it went on for hours and hours. Then I woke up and found myself at home in my bedroom and no one was there except me. I started panicking, but then I get a call on the house phone. It was my parents; they had gone looking for me. I said, but mom dad I am right here at home. I just woke up in my bed. They said that was impossible, they had been so worried about me they stayed up all night. Maybe sometimes when you hear whispers in the forest, you should pay attention.

The Monster-Fighting, Zombie-Slaying, Super Protection Island
By Nicholas Stauffer, 3rd Grade
This is the Monster-Fighting, Zombie-Slaying, Super Protection Island. The island has force fields and weapons in
case of aliens, UFOs, monsters, zombies, and that sort of thing. The weapon with the green handle and yellow front
piece is the Lightning Sword. The Bubble Gum Hill is for food. The food maker is also for food. The zombie-blasting
thingamajiggie is Fighting Robodog. The thing that Robodog is holding on his tail is the Fire Blaster. The spiky thing is the
Ancient Spiky Sword. The blinding eggs are for making enemies blind. The red stuff around the human is armor. The rare
diamond inside the hill costs a bunch of money. The thing that Robodog is attacking is a zombie. All this stuff is here
because, five years ago, a monster apocalypse happened and the human was thrown onto the island that had the armor
on it. Monsters kept showing up and he made different defenses of his own to defeat them. The human is on a very hard
quest to make an invention that will
make his island move so that he can
get back home, call the army, the Air
Force, the marines, and the navy, and
kill all the monsters. Once he has done
that, the human will try to sell his
island and supplies for a bunch of
money, then earn another bunch of
money, trade back the second bunch
of money for the supplies and island,
use the first bunch of money to buy a
minijet, use all the supplies, and defeat
all the monsters out in space. The rare
diamond will help him get the supplies
and minijet to use on his mission to
kick all the monsters guts out!

THE DAY I WENT KAYAKING!
BY HENRY KRISTOFER MONSON!
I went kayaking with my granddad. Me (Henry) and Granddad (Frank) rowed a red, orange and yellow kayak named TIGER that had 2 holes that let the water in and out. My brother whose name is George and my mom whose name is Beth rowed a blue kayak named SKY that had 4 holes that let the water in and out. It was fun! We got wet! My brother (George) got very, very soaked. I wish I had 2 kayaks to go in my garage so when I go kayaking again so we do not have to rent 2 kayaks. I love kayaking! I got a little bit soaked. I heard a few waves crash on my kayak named TIGER. I saw 2 bridges. The end.

ALIEN
By Alexander Jones, 2nd Grade
If I had an alien… I would make it go into the bathtub, and I would make it kiss my mom. I would give my alien all of my money. I will take it wherever I go! On an airplane, everywhere I go. I would play games with the alien, I would sleep with the alien, and I will watch TV with the alien. I can do anything with the alien. I would not let anything get him in trouble. It’s cool to have an alien because you can do whatever you wont to do with it. Do you want to have an alien?
The alien says “hhhuuuoomoo”, aliens talk silly, right? All aliens fly spaceships. Where do aliens live? “Do they live on the moon?” “Do they live on Saturn? Aliens are very slimy, like my friend Moomoo, he is very slimy too. Did you know that other galaxies have different aliens on them? Some aliens, like my friend Deffee’s alien, has six eyes.
I like my alien, do you like your alien?
MY JOURNEY THROUGH SUGAR LAND By Jolie Grogan and Maya Starkloff, 4th Grade
I walked down a path that leads into the mountains. Some
people say if you hike beyond the mountains you will find yourself in Sugar Land, a land of sweets. I always dreamed about going there and now I am! Wish me luck!
The hike was lo ng and tiring. When I got to the top of the mountain I collapsed. I
was so tired. I looked up and saw all of the cotton candy trees, gumdrop bushes, jelly oceans and licorice snakes. It was a beautiful sight. When I looked down I see a huge slide. What other to do then slide down it? I close my eyes count to three and slide.
I wake up to find many kinds of things. I look all around me and see the beautiful, bright colors of candy. The piercing jello sun shines in
my eyes and I remember I am in Sugar Land. I dig through my bag and yank my bathing suit. I’M GOING SWIMMING!!!! I jumped behind one of the
neon pink cotton candy trees and changed into my swim suit. I close my eyes, plugged and plug my nose and jump in. When I come up for air I am on the other side of the lake. I see a sweetish fish a i remember that this is my friends favorite candy, except for that this one is alive!
Then I see a chocolate waterfall. My friends would love this! After a while I get out and dry off on a bubble gum towel. I try a bite it is delicious then I decide it is time to go home.
I climb up and dive over the mountain. When I get to my house my mom asked where I was and I say I went to Sugar Land. I tell about all the things I did. She says I need to rest and I was probably dreaming.
