Principal’s Message
To Be a Volunteer To be a volunteer, it takes...
Generosity, a willingness to give your time to others
Understanding, because their lives might be very different from your own
Empathy, an ability to put yourself in someone else's shoes and feel what
they must feel
Compassion, to truly care about making someone else's life better
Patience, because the process doesn't always go as smoothly as it might
Dedication, to stick with the project and see it through
(author unknown)
Leduc Estates School’s Volunteers have shown these qualities and so much
more, so thank you for all that you do!
Student safety is always one of our biggest concerns! Every day staff patrols
the front bus loop to ensure students make it into and out of the building
safely. The bus loop is closed to cars when the buses are on site. Once
buses have departed the loop, it is open for drop-offs and pick-ups but no
parking. If your son or daughter is not ready to be picked up at the curb,
please circle around in order to maintain the flow of traffic. I appreciate your
support in keeping our students safe.
The last meeting of the year for your Parents’ Association will be held on June
2, 2016, at 7:00 PM. We invite everyone to join us in the school library. I
would like to encourage any parent who is interested in learning more
about School Council and Parents’ Association to come out to these
meetings. An update regarding school staffing for the 2016/17 school
year will also be provided at this meeting.

We will be holding our Jump Rope for
Heart fundraising event for the Heart and
Stroke Foundation on May 13th. If you re-
ceived a pledge envelope and haven't re-
turned it yet, please do so immediately.
Thank you for your support of this very
worthwhile cause.
Library News
We are getting close to the end of the school year,
so please ensure your children are returning their
library books on time. The library will be closed for
checking out books at the end of May.
Thank you.,

Volunteer Appreciation Tea
We held our annual Volunteer Appreciation
Tea on May 5th. We were so pleased to see
so many volunteers come out. We really ap-
preciate all you do to make Leduc Estates
School a great place to be!
KinderCare/Before and After
School Care
Black Gold Regional Schools has
approved our request to operate
these programs once again. Our
license with Alberta Children Services requires that we have
new forms annually. Due to ca-
pacity regulations, attendance/
registration will be on a first re-
ceived, first paid basis. These
forms will be available on June
1st both online and in the school.
Spring Dance
On April 21st we had our annual Family
Dance. This year's theme was "Western"
and many students and parents could be
seen on the dance floor decked out in their
western wear. Thank you to all of our par-
ent and staff volunteers for making the
evening a fun time for all. We would like to
offer a special thanks to the dance coordi-
nator, Koren Lightning-Earle.
We do not offer refunds for milk cards or the
Out of School Care Program/KinderCare Program.
As the end of the school year gets closer, we will
be happy to sell partial cards. Please contact the
office for assistance.

A big thank you to Mrs. Lightning Earle and her committee for their work on
the Family Dance.
Thank you to Hippy Dog DJ Services for donating the DJ services for the
dance.
Thank you to our volunteer moms & dads for coming in and helping out with Microwave days,
Hot Lunch days and whenever else they are needed.

Year Calendar has been posted on the Black Gold Website at http://www.blackgold.ca/news-calendar/division-annual-calendar-2/.
This amendment reflects the revision to the Alberta Education Provincial
Achievement Tests (PAT) and Diploma Examination schedule after our Board of
Education approved the calendar. The following dates are affected for PATs: June 16, 19 and 28.
Alberta Education has granted permission for BGRD to reschedule the June 29 PAT to June 22.
Leduc Central Interact Club
The Leduc Central
Intract Club is run by
Leduc Composite High
School students and is
the high school version
of the Rotary Club. They
are organizing a book
drive to raise funds for
Leduc and District
Emergency Shelter As-
sociation and have asked
that we set up a book
collecting bin at our
school. They will be col-
lecting old/lightly used
books that students/
parents no longer desire.
If you have any books
you would like to donate,
please send them to the
school with your child to
put in the book box.
Thank you
