The Leduc and District Victim Services Unit is a police based, non- profit, charitable society created to provide a highly skilled, compassionate level of service to any victim of crime or tragedy, through our dedication and trained staff and volunteers. This year we are pleased to announce our revised plan to combine our previous method of multi platform fundraising and focusing on one signature event. October 26, 2013 marks the Leduc & District Victim Services first annual RCMP Regimental Masquerade Ball set to raise $40,000 in its inaugural year. This event promises to be a MUST ATTEND affair, focused on delivering an incredible evening of live entertainment, a sit down dinner and silent and live auctions, all while in keeping with the spirit of RCMP form. Live entertainment includes Fire Breathing, Stilt Walking, Magic, Table Stunts and Partner Acrobatics with guest emcee Mike McGuire of Leduc’s Best Country, 93.1 The One!

Leduc and District Victim Services works in conjunction with the Leduc, Beaumont, Devon, Edmonton Int'l Airport, Thorsby & Breton RCMP detachments to provide Support, Information and Referrals to persons in Leduc County & Breton during their time of crisis, trauma or tragedy whether it is as a victim of crime, sudden death or family crisis. Goals of the RCMP Victim Services Program are as follows:

• Lessen the immediate impact of a crime on a victim. This can be done by alleviating stress on that victim by providing support, information, and referrals in time of crisis;

• Help victims cope with the effects of crime by providing information on the following: their police file status, the court process and case disposition, Victim Impact Statements, police procedures, community resources, compensation application procedures (Restitution), and whatever else may be of help;

• Focus on the prevention of further victimization through education of crime prevention techniques and provide encouragement to the victim;

• To promote a positive liaison between the Police, the Court System and the Victim so that a better flow of information and support is created;

• Provide ongoing public awareness through the promotion of existing programs; • To provide well trained volunteers who are able to maintain the integrity of and

ensure confidentiality for all contacts with police, victims and the public at large.

At time of crisis and trauma we all need someone to be there, to help guide us through circumstance with compassion, information and support.

“The system failed me, but you guys did not. You were my legs when I could not stand; you were my voice when I could not speak. For that, I am eternally grateful” K “I am so thankful that you were there for my daughter. I firmly believe that your support, strength and guidance, helped my daughter get through a very rough time. Thank you so much for everything” LS

Date: April 2013 Dear LDVS Supporter: As you know, the success and strength of the Leduc & District Victim Services (LDVS) is largely attributed to the support we receive from individuals and organizations such as yourselves. This year we are hosting the LDVS 1st annual signature fundraiser, “The RCMP Regimental Masquerade Ball” on Saturday October 26, 2013 at the Royal Executive Inn. We expect the RCMP Regimental Masquerade Ball will grow in attendance each year, as we attract more people from the communities we serve. However, the proceeds from the evening’s Live and Silent Auctions still remain a major component of our fundraising efforts. We depend on the support of our friends in the business community who supply us with exciting auction items. Would you be willing to donate either a gift certificate or merchandise from your business? Someone from our committee will be contacting you to discuss your contributions and to share information about individual and group tickets. It is a win/win situation when we benefit from your donation and you receive the goodwill which comes as a result of your generosity. Our organization’s ability to continue to operate is due in large part to the generous support of individual donors who believe in our mission, as well as gifts from businesses and corporations Thank you for considering our request and for your kindness and generosity.
