My inspira*on in life: People’s inspira?ons are partly limited by where one is born, and the environment one was raised in. I had a hard ?me dis?nguishing between the things I like from the things which inspire me. AIer thinking for a long ?me I found out that my personal experiences have impacted my life tremendously. Because I lived in many different places and I closely saw the different struggles of people, I found myself being Inspired by peoples’ struggles, solidarity, social movements, community, immigrant rights, Indigenous rights, environmental rights and any kind of inequality.

Narra*ve: The stairs lead to the massive elevated rectangular prism but the way up is difficult because of the crooked stairs and planes ac?ng as obstacles. It is a metaphor for people’s struggles. The reward aIer climbing the stair is jus?ce. Descrip*on: foam core model composed of crooked stairs that lead to the prism that is suspended crea?ng tension. Success: Tension in the massive elevated rectangular prism. Open and close spaces created by the different planes and stairs Failures: Too literal, building-‐like structure with stairs. No specific func?on of base + the base colored (blue ocean and green ground) lack of complexity. Learned: Go form literal to abstract, from general to specific.

Narra*ve: Same idea as previous itera?on. The horizontal planes act as stairs that are difficult to climb. At the end there is a reward which is the whole at the top provokes you to look inside. Descrip*on: In this itera?on I got rid of the useless base. I used more simple materials and start playing with more curvilinear shapes. Success: cylindrical frame, and got rid of the non func?onal base. It now can be seen fro different angles. Failures: Lack of intension in the ordering of the transverse planes, frame material not the most appropriate, lack of rela?onship between planes. Cylindrical frame not very interes?ng. Learned: Posi?on each plane with more intension, use different material for the frame. Draw and design before building the actual model.

Narra*ve: Keeping the same original idea of going through struggles to get to the top. This ?me I added circular openings which you can see thought on the way up or down. The first tree planes are rotated evenly which create rhythm. The center is sta?c and the bo^om is more chao?c with planes intersec?ng each other. Descrip*on: I kept the cylindrical core and intended to made it more interes?ng by cu_ng circular opening in different levels. Success: Be^er intension in ordering planes, use of more solid material (crescent board) Failures: circular indenta?ons in the the cylindrical core are more decora?ve than func?onal. Language not yet developed. Learned: Difference between decora?ve and func?onal, craI could be improved using different techniques and tools, create language.

Narra*ve: From bo^om to top the horizontal planes change from black to white. The black planes represents the bad and as you get to the top white represents good (western perspec?ve). In the center is where the transi?on occurs. It’s a place to rest, to think (focus point). Descrip*on: I changed from the a cylindrical frame to a square one. Timidly I start using new material besides boards. I introduce in this itera?on; transduced plas?cs and metals. Success: I was able to incorporate new materials crea?ng unity in the model, improved my craI and place planes with some intension. Failures: changing from cylindrical frame to square frame makes the model look more like a building; literal and symmetrical. There is s?ll a lack of func?on and intension. Learned: I tend to get back to the more straight lines. (my comfort zone) I already got bored of this model its ?me to try something new.

Narra*ve: a steel wire structure penetrates white planes making its way up ?ll it it reaches the transduced wood frame panel inspired by helices of airplanes. Descrip*on: This itera?on I step out of my comfort zone and start using new materials. I used metal wire for the frame in order to create a more solid but light frame. fro the transversal planes I used foam core, wood and transduced materials. Success: I was able to manipulate the wire be^er and create a more interes?ng frame. Failures: Planes are not fixed and all of them intersect the frame in the same way. Learned: sketches and notes really help to organize and manage my ?me in a more efficient and produc?ve way.
![Page 14: Learning Portfolio](https://reader031.fdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022020422/568c0f7c1a28ab955a944cda/html5/thumbnails/14.jpg)

Narra*ve: star?ng from the widest part of the frame the materials and values change. From the more cold and solid materials as metal and big foam core to a more warm, light and delicate materials; textures as the stockings net and ending in the wood frame transduced helices. Descrip*on: wire framed structure with planes intersec?ng. Frame also becomes the body of the structure at ?mes . There are at least 4 different parts that form the structure. Success: staking net and the helices sec?on of the frame worked out well giving the model movement and focus point. Failure: too many different materials. The four parts of the model are not communica?ng, Lacking transi?ons. Learned: don’t need to use a lot of materials to make my model interes?ng. Need to focus more in form and func?on.

Collage # 1
![Page 17: Learning Portfolio](https://reader031.fdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022020422/568c0f7c1a28ab955a944cda/html5/thumbnails/17.jpg)
Descrip*on: I intended to organize this first collage in a spiral way. It starts from the bo^oms right and ends in the center which is the focus point. The image at the center is my last itera?on and the result of the 6 itera?ons. I used a photograph of each itera?on and combined them to form a path that leads to the center of the collage. I used black and white photos that I cut and pasted manually. Success: I was able to not only use different scales of my itera?ons but I also used overlapping. Failure: There is not clear path, nor clear focus point. The figures are not responding to each other and there is not specific alignment. Learned: Tectonic collage. The use of perspec?ve and vanishing points.
![Page 18: Learning Portfolio](https://reader031.fdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022020422/568c0f7c1a28ab955a944cda/html5/thumbnails/18.jpg)
Collage # 2
![Page 19: Learning Portfolio](https://reader031.fdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022020422/568c0f7c1a28ab955a944cda/html5/thumbnails/19.jpg)
Descrip*on: In this collage I tried to use the one point perspec?ve with the vanishing point in the center. I placed the different figures so that they vanish to the center. With Photoshop, I was able to work with different layers at the same ?me. Success: More organized, some control over Photoshop Failure: Lack of unity. Values do not promote unity. Edges + shapes are not responding to each other. Learned: Use of alignment, extension of pathways can promote the communica?on between figures. The use of similar values could help the unity of the en?re collage. Hierarchy and grouping can promote one point perspec?ve.
![Page 20: Learning Portfolio](https://reader031.fdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022020422/568c0f7c1a28ab955a944cda/html5/thumbnails/20.jpg)
Collage # 3
![Page 21: Learning Portfolio](https://reader031.fdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022020422/568c0f7c1a28ab955a944cda/html5/thumbnails/21.jpg)
Descrip*on: I’m s?ll using the one point perspec?ve. I added a close up of the last itera?on as a frame at the right of the collage. The main pathways are the ones created by the repe??on of the white figure from right to leI converging in the center and the changing direc?on going upwards. Success: Use repe??on of the same figure with different scales promotes a be^er sense of perspec?ve. By using extension of pathways, the lower leI group are in conversa?on (edge + figure) Failure: Even though the figures in some groups of the collage are responsive, the en?re collage s?ll lack unity. Learned: Groups in the collage can relate to each other applying similar values and textures. The fill as important as the empty spaces.
![Page 22: Learning Portfolio](https://reader031.fdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022020422/568c0f7c1a28ab955a944cda/html5/thumbnails/22.jpg)
Collage # 4
![Page 23: Learning Portfolio](https://reader031.fdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022020422/568c0f7c1a28ab955a944cda/html5/thumbnails/23.jpg)
Descrip*on: In this collage I used repe??ons of different figures and I scale them down to give a be^er sense of perspec?ve. I kept the structure at the leI to give it a frame. I used more curves to create more movement and make it more interes?ng. Success: I found Illustrator to be more useful for me when crea?ng collages. Failures: I’m s?ll lacking integrity. Groups are s?ll not responding to each other. The value of the figures doesn’t help either. Learned: using Illustrator I can change the value of the figures and make it more integrated. I can also create blends and manipulate the figures be^er. I’m not afraid to tear dissect the figures anymore. Using guideline on top of my collage will help me to organize my figures be^er.
![Page 24: Learning Portfolio](https://reader031.fdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022020422/568c0f7c1a28ab955a944cda/html5/thumbnails/24.jpg)
Collage # 5
![Page 25: Learning Portfolio](https://reader031.fdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022020422/568c0f7c1a28ab955a944cda/html5/thumbnails/25.jpg)
Descrip*on: This is my latest collage and work. Therefore, I tried to apply everything learned so far. As a main guideline I used the golden sec?on. I s?ll preserved the one point perspec?ve but I moved to the leI. I also changed the values of most figures to create integrity. In order to crate sense of perspec?ve I used repe??on of figures with different scales this also lead to new shapes and spaces. Success: the guideline really helped to organized my collage, and accentuate the extension of pathways. I also used displacement to create extension of pathways and vice versa. Similar values create more integrity. Failures: lack of complexity. Conversa?on( responsive edges and shapes could be improved. Learned: use of tracing paper helps to discover new pathways, dissec?ng figures can lead to create new shapes and spaces.
