Learning material design and development NQF scope: This skills programme gives specialists the skills to design and develop a complete curriculum, from strategy to materials. It covers the outcomes of the unit standards “Define target audience profiles and skills gaps” (ID Number 123396) at level 4, “Design outcomes-based learning programmes” (ID Number 123401) at level 6 and “Develop outcomes-based learning programmes” (ID Number 123394) at level 5. It will earn the competent learner 31 credits. Purpose: To empower specialists to design and develop a curriculum from unit standard, including the learning materials. Outcomes: At the end of this programme, specialists will be able to: Draft learning outcomes for a programme Conduct an analysis for learning design Develop curriculum framework Select suitable resources for materials Develop materials drafts and facilitation guidelines Pilot draft materials Edit to produce final materials Evaluate own performance Duration: A total of three contact days (or two plus 1) followed by a self learning period of four to six weeks and then a one day assessment intervention. Assessment: This skills programme will be assessed through the production of all draft and final documents leading to a programme based on a unit standard of at least six credits. The documents are to be included in the portfolio of evidence.
