Our long awaited motorcycle training range on the campus will be completed by the end of summer so motorcycle enthusiasts can enroll in Motorcycle Safety weekend classes in Spring 2014. Professional Pharmacy Technician Career Overview: Pharmacy Technicians are entry-level personnel that work in many different pharmacy settings within the healthcare industry. They assist the pharmacist as their right-hand person in many different pharmacy practice settings. Some of the main duties of a pharmacy technician are to enter patient data and information into the computer system to process prescriptions. They are also responsible for dispensing commercially available medications, compound-ing specialty orders, and/or preparing intravenous medica-tions. They refer any questions regarding prescriptions, drug information, or health matters to a pharmacist. Pharmacy techs work in a wide variety of practice settings, including communi-ty pharmacies, hospitals, the military, in-home health care set-tings, long term care facilities, mail service pharmacies, man-aged health care organizations, and educational programs. Most importantly, Pharmacy Technicians are responsible for creating a safe and professional environment for their patients.

Program Overview: The Professional Pharmacy Technician program is an introductory course that is designed to teach students the fundamentals and particulars of becoming a pharmacy technician. This class introduces students to vari-ous pharmacy practice settings and covers drug classes, ba-sic physiology, drug interactions and daily pharmacy opera-tions. This program trains individuals to effectively assist in pharmaceutical preparations and complete daily required tasks in any pharmacy environment, although on the job training is still a part of pharmacy training. This course also is designed to introduce students interested in pharmacy to the basic concepts of pharmacy calculations. CapoeiraIncrease your agility, strength and endurance, and have fun. Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian martial art form that combines martial arts movements, dance, gymnastics, music, and song. Students will learn the basic movements, rhythms and styles of Capoeira, while being introduced to the instruments and songs that structure the Capoeira roda (circle). Estee Nathanson is our lead Educational Specialist. She coordinates our computer courses, health industry workforce training, financial and not-for-profit management courses, the Summer Youth Academy, and much more! You can reach her at [email protected].
