    1. pole plot

Each pole on a Pole Plot represents an orientation data pair in the frst two

columns o a DIPS fle. The Pole Plot can also display eature attribute

inormation, based on the data in any column o a DIPS fle, with the Symbolic

    Pole Plot option.

    2. Scatter Plot

Scatter Plot allows the user to better !iew the numerical distribution o

these measurements, since coincident pole and closely nei"hbourin" pole

measurements are "rouped to"ether with #uantities plotted symbolically. The

Scatter Plot $e"end indicates the number o poles represented by each

    symbol.

    %. &ontour Plot

The &ontour Plot clearly shows the data concentrations.

The rosette con!eys less inormation than a ull stereonet since one

dimension is remo!ed romthe dia"ram. In cases where the planes bein"

considered ormessentially two dimensional "eometry +prismatic wed"es,or

eample- the third dimension may oten o!ercomplicate the problem.

rosette oriented perpendicular to the ais o a lon" topsill or tunnel may

!ertical rosette which cuts a section throu"h a slope under in!esti"ation can

be used to perorm#uic/ slidin" or topplin" analysis where the structure

the roc/ is simple enou"h to warrant 2D treatment.
