Lesson 1- Introductory: COS1020: Long Hair Design 1 Students handle hair confidently, brush, comb and part hair correctly and create ropes, knots and two or three-strand braids. Prerequisite: COS 1010 Personal & Professional Practices Time : 15 min Introduction: a)Class Discussion of current up-do trends - show pictures from 2009 Oscars, and AA, point out trends -Discuss relevance of knowing how to duplicate these styles and relate to definitions learned in previous class b) Show Pictures from personal portfolio -Weddings, work, Halloween -brain storm ideas, drama shows, special occasions -discuss importance of starting own portfolio 20 min Activities: c) Teacher presentation of an Up-do. - show backcombing, proper crisscrossing of bobby pins, sectioning, and finally shaking the mannequin, to show how tight/durable the style should be 5 min Closure: d) Clean up stations & discuss next class: -students will practice to do one up-do on their own mannequins. When finished, students receive a mark, and take a picture for their own portfolio
