At the food bowl they’re all the same
Do long-haired dogs have different nut-ritional needs from short-haired ones? Do large dogs need different foods from small dogs?We say No!Basically it is just the same as our own nutritional needs. A tall person needs the same nutrients as a short person. Regard-less of skin colour or living environment.
àAll dogs need the same nutrients
Why is the right nutrition so important?
àOnly a diet within the optimal range is healthy

the range within which the dog is best nourished. Regardless of size or breed.

It’s all about production
Extruded• The product is made more digestible by
hydrothermic starch processing (maize, potatoes)
• Temperatures over 120°C • Destruction of pathogenic germs (capable
of causing disease) • Drastic reduction of fungal spores • Porous, crunchy surface promotes chewing
and dental care• Subsequent greasing possible
àExtruded croquettes are better tolerated
Cold-pressed (pellets)• Temperatures of 70-90°C • Reduction of fungal spores• Limited fat content• Smooth surface• Subsequent greasing difficult• More cost-effective production process• Limited number of product forms• Semi Moist• Semi-moist food with higher water content • From 10% moisture content addition of pre-
servatives necessary

The formula for a long and healthy life
àIt’s all down to the combination
of nutrients

Salmon oil - Vitamin E supports learning capacity slows the ageing process stimulates the immune system
Beta Glucans (special yeast) strengthens the body’s defences improves intestinal digestion inhibits inflammatory reactions
Ca/P Calcium phosphorus ratio the ideal Ca/P ratio for every age low calcium content supports healthy
bone development low phosphorus content reduces the
risk of kidney disease

Omega 3/6 fatty acids improve the appearance of skin and
coat reduce the risk of arthritis repress allergic reactions and regulate
cholesterol levels in blood
Fructooligosaccharides improve intestinal flora strengthen intestinal mucosa reduce the formation of toxins in the
intestines
Moderate protein and fat content for healthy growth
prevents fatty deposits easy on liver and kidneys
Crude ash content low crude ash content

Good quality intake at the front – less output at the back
Crude ash content
The crude ash content in dog food is de-termined by heating the product intensely (to approx. 550°). It shows the indigestible value of the materials which remain after the heating. The smaller the percentage of crude ash, the higher the quality of the dog food.
Organic origin (burns)Protein, fat, carbohydrates and other organic compounds
Inorganic origin (does not burn)Minerals and trace elements
Tip: in the case of an increased crude ash content check calcium and phosphorus
àThe crude ash content should be between 4.5 % - 7.5%

Good fuel, good performance
Dogs are prey eaters who consume various types of animal and plant matter. Christo-pherus reproduces this natural combina-tion of nutrients.Christopherus contains only tested, gua-ranteed natural ingredients of the highest quality.
àContains all a dog needs
Just as in humans, the avoidance of proven allergens, such as wheat, has proved an effective means of preventing food intole-rances.

Proteins – the basis of life
There are both vegetable and animal proteins which are essential. There are constantly claims that vegetable proteins are less valuable than animal proteins. But since it is only the proportion of the aminoacids they contain which is relevant, these claims are not correct. For a healthy
diet both types of proteins should be com-bined to enable utilisation of all the advan-tages of both vegetable and animal proteins. This also makes it possible to achieve an excellent biological value.

àBroad protein spectrum
The dog is descended from the wolfand man from the ape?
So do we still live in the trees and eat bananas? Or do our dogs catch their food themselves every day? In a study by the Swedish geneticist Axselsson it was found that the dog’s genetic development has progressed far from the wolf.
àNutritional needs have developed
Dogs digest starch considerably better to-day, their metabolism has evolved. Protein content should be monitored and should not be too high and maintenance of calcium/phosphorus values is important.
Life is change
àThe Christopherus life stage concept
Nutritional needs change according to the sta-ge of life – just like in humans. The protein requirements of a puppy are, for instance, greater than those of an adult or aging dog. And fat requirements too change over the course of a dog’s life. And what is almost more important: the calcium-phos-phorus ratio.
Christopherus addresses these changing needs with its life stage concept.
So all your dog’s needs are ideally satisfied at every age.

Less is sometimes more
àNo deceit or trickery with nutrients
Christopherus supplies normally active dogs with everything they need.
We use only ingredients with useful nutri-tional physiological effects.
With open and honest declarations.
We refuse to join in the current trend of offering buyer incentives with small amounts of exotic sounding ingredients (e.g. glucosamine/green-lipped mussel) for two reasons:
1. No additions without added benefit. Most of the quantities added bring the animals no proven benefit.
2. Specific supplements only if required. Specific nutritional requirements of indi-vidual dogs should be met by means of supplements offered by specialist stores. No human takes, e.g. calcium tablets they don’t need.
Needs determine supply
àQuantity counts
It goes without saying that a large dog needs more food than a small one, and an active dog more than an idle one.
But these different needs can be easily accommodated by the quantity of food provided.
Just as for us humans:
Big appetite, big portion – small appetite, small portion.
