We live in a hurried world.

Our minds need space.

But, we make excuses …

0 It sounds boring!0 I can’t sit still.0 I don’t have time.0 I don’t like being alone.0 My mind is too fast; I can’t slow it

down.From Mindful Magazine, April 2014

Excuse the excuse!

Pushing can help us to use the

time we do have better.

Being alone isn’t as scary

as we think.

Excuse the excuse!

Let your mind race—there’s no ideal rate! Your thinking will slow with practice.

Posture PracticeSEAT

Sit wherever you are—your office chair, the floor, a bleacher seat. Don’t perch or hang back.

LEGSIf you’re on the floor, cross your legs. If you’re in a chair, be sure your feet are touching the floor.

UPPER BODY Straighten, but don’t stiffen your upper body.

HANDS Let your hands drop onto the tops of your legs.

CHINDrop your chin and let your gaze fall downward—you don’t have to close your eyes, but you can.

TOTAL BODYRelax in this position for a few moments, and then pick up with your day!

S.T.O.P. Stressing Out

S T O PStop what you’re doing—put things down for a minute.

Take a few deep breaths, observing the flow in and out.

Observe your experience as is—what thoughts are on your mind? Note thoughts are not facts, not permanent.

Proceed with something that will support you in the moment. Talk to a friend, grab a cup of coffee.
