CONSOLIDATION 1THE PURPOSE IN THE PROCESS

    1. ObjectiveThe student should understand what the purpose in the process of Consolidation is.

    2. GoalsThe student should be able to: Explain what the purpose in the process of Consolidation is. Explain the work that Consolidation requires.

    3. What is the purpose in the process of consolidation? We know that Gods call is for us to take the good news of salvation to every crea-ture. We should then begin a process of care, attention and continual contact withthe new believer until he feels strengthened and inspired to become a disciple ofChrist. We call this process Consolidation.

A . To show the benefits of belonging to the family of God.B. To show interest in their needs.C. To offer fellowship.D . To water the seed that has been sown - 1 Cor. 3:6

I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increaseE. To show them Christ, His love and the abundant life that He has.F. To make them conscious of their decision for Christ.G. To involve them in the activities of JIL Church.

    4. The work of consolidationA. It is necessary to understand that we are Gods fellow-workers - 1 Cor. 1:9

For we are Gods fellow workers; you are Gods field, you are Gods building.B. Our calling consists of winning and keeping people until they themselves are

capable of doing the same to others. - 2 Tim. 2:2.And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these tofaithful men who will be able to teach others also.

    C. Therefore this work demands that we:

Pray for the people that we are looking after - Romans 1:9For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of His Son, thatwithout ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers.

Share time with them - Acts 19:8And he went into the synagogue and spoke boldly for three months, reasoning andpersuading concerning the things of the kingdom of God.

Show interest in their family - Acts 16:31-34And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you andyour household. Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all who werein his house. And he took them the same hour of the night and washed their stripes. And immediately he and all his family were baptized. Now when he had broughtthem into his house, he set food before them; and he rejoiced, having believed in Godwith all his household.

Feel a burden for their needs and problems - Acts 17: 16Now while Paul waited for them at Athens, his spirit was provoked within himwhen he saw that the city was given over to idols.

Be always available for them - Acts 19:22-23So he sent into Macedonia two of those who ministered to him, Timothy andErastus, but he himself stayed in Asia for a time. And about that time there arose agreat commotion about the Way.

Meet their needs, as far as possible -Acts 11 :29Then the disciples, each according to his ability, determined to send relief to thebrethren dwelling in Judea.

Conclusion Consolidation is fundamental within the development of the vision, and necessary

for the fulfillment of the goals.

Assignment The student must look for an example of Consolidation in the Bible, and explain it. That each student should write down an example of someone they have consoli-

    dated.

    CONSOLIDATION - 2HOW TO CONSOLIDATE

    1. ObjectiveThe person should understand the basic principles for effective Consolidation.

    2. GoalThe student should be able to explain the best way of carrying out Consolidation.

    3. Explain the plan of salvation using five teaching pointsIt is advisable for the same person to consolidate them who evangelized them, as arelationship of trust and friendship is already established, that is why it is so impor-tant for every member of JIL Church to know how to do it. If you are a leader, taketime to teach it to your disciples.

    A. The teaching about love - John 3: 16, John 10:10For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoeverbelieves in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.I have come that you may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

    B. The teaching about sin- Romans 3:12, 3 :23They have all turned aside, they have together become unprofitable, there is none whodoes good, no, not one.

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

    C. The Teaching about Christ as the one and sufficient Savior.Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Fatherexcept through Me. (John 14:6)Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us for it iswritten, Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree (Gal. 3:13)For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is thegift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast (Eph. 2:8-9).

Though they are red like crimson, they shall beas wool. (Isaiah 1:18)He who covers his sins will nor prosper, but whoever confesses and forsake them willhave mercy. (Prov. 28:13)

    E. The teaching about accepting and receiving.Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, Iwill come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. (Rev. 3:20)But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, tothose who believe in His name. (John 1:12)

    2. GoalsThe student should be able to: Explain the role that the Holy Spirit plays in the Process of Counseling. Explain the role that the Counselor plays in the Process of Counseling. Explain the role that the one being counseled plays in the Process of Counseling.

    3. The Holy Spirits ministry of counselingThe translation of the Holy Spirit as Comforter comes from the word Parakletos, which is synonymous with Counselor, Helper or Intercessor. To not include Himin Counseling, and to not depend on Him, is an act of self-sufficiency. We mustremember the work of the Holy Spirit, and relate it to Counseling:

    A. He teaches us and reminds us of all things - John 14:26But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name. He will teachyou all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

    B. He guides us into the truth.- John 13:16However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come , He will guide you into all truth; forHe will not speak on his own authority, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and Hewill tell you things to come.

    C. He convicts us of sin - John 15:7-8Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helperwill not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you. And when He has come, He will convict theworld of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment.

    D. He teaches us what we ought to say - Luke 12:12For the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you ought to say.

    E. We speak with the Gifts of the Spirit - 1 Cor. 2:13.These things we also speak, not in words which mans wisdom teaches but which theHoly Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

    F. The anointing teaches us - 1 John 2:27But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do notneed that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him.

Counseling is a work that requires preparation and wisdom; the cell leader must beprepared to carry out this work, and be in contact with his own leaders, so as to besupervised in this area.

    4. Requirements for the CounselorA. Extensive and deep knowledge of the Bible - Col. 3:16.

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishingone another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in yourhearts to the Lord. The Counselor must be convinced that the Bible is true, and ground himself on it,in order to motivate and impart faith in others. This aspect is very important, because it allows us to know the will of God for each case, and not go astraydoctrinally.

    B. Filled with and led by the Holy Spirit - Isaiah 11:2.The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord.

    C. Divine Wisdom Pro. 2:6-7This comes from God, and it helps us to apply knowledge in the most suitableway to resolve conflicts and find solutions.

The Lord is the one who imparts wisdomFor the Lord gives wisdom. From His mouth come knowledge and understanding,He stores up sound wisdom for the upright, He is a shield to those who walk up-rightly (Prov. 2:6-7)For I will give you a mouth and wisdom which all your adversaries will not be ableto contradict or resist (Luke 21:15)

We need to ask for wisdom - James 1:5If any of you lacks wisdom, let hi ask God, who gives to all liberty and withoutreproach, and will be given to him.

Wisdom is a Gift of God - 1 Cor. 12:8for to one is given the word to wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word ofknowledge through the same Spirit.

Wisdom increases with experience - Job, 3:7I said, Age should speak, and multitude of years should teach wisdom

Availability and commitment to the one counseled. Discernment to find in the Bible the solution to problems. Dedication to prayer in seeking divine guidance. Believing that the one counseled can change.

    5. The one counseledWe must recognize each persons individuality. Each one has a different context anda special way of viewing and accepting life. The cultural, spiritual, social, economicand educational background of each individual is different, and therefore it is neces-sary to know him or her in order to offer effective help.It is necessary to believe that the ones counseled can change, and that they need to belistened to and motivated to that end.

What do the ones counseled expect?A. That you should understand their problems even better than they do themselves,

and that someone should get to the root of those problemsB. That you should give them help in time of crisis.C. That you should help them change undesirable behavior, and that you should

show them what is appropriate.D . Growth and maturity.
