Leadership Roles in School/

Community

Being involved with the community is one of the most important leadership roles one can have.

I was active in my home community for two years, while I served as student council president.

Integration of school and community was one of my goals that I wanted to accomplish during my time as student council president and it was accomplished.

Leadership Theories That Apply

To Me Transformation

“As a transformational process, stating that leadership occurs „when one or more persons engage with others in such a way that leaders and followers raise one another to higher levels of motivation and morality.‟”(Northouse Leadership Theory).

Encouragement of others to accomplish tasks instead of a single individual helps to accomplish those tasks. If one person is doing everything then moral may be low.

If there is a group participation though and everyone feels involved and important then a leader has accomplished his task.

“Teamwork is the fuel that allows common people to attain uncommon results.”

Leadership Theories That Apply To

Me Situational Approach

Every situation is different.

Every situation should be

addressed as it arises.

Requires acting creatively

because one needs to

understand there are different

problems, and different

problems require different

responses.

Leadership Theories That Apply

To Me Process Leadership “Leadership is a phenomenon that

resides in the context of the interactions between leaders and followers and makes leadership available to everyone.” (Northouse Leadership Theory).

My understanding of this is delegation.

One cannot micromanage and needs to use delegation in order to accomplish numerous tasks at one time.

“Surround yourself with the best people you can find, delegate authority, and don’t interfere.”

-Ronald Regan

Leadership Styles Integrated Being a leader can be difficult sometimes.

Important things a leader needs to realize is: Every situation requires a special and unique approach.

(Situational Approach)

DO NOT micro-manage. (Process Leadership)

There is only one way to lead and that is by example.

Teamwork is the key to a group moving forward to accomplish goals, and stay motivated while dong it. (Transformation Leadership)

Keeping people involved while a task is accomplished. (Transformation Leadership)

“You can please some of the people all the time, and all the people some of the time, but you can never please all of the people all the time.”

Most important leadership quote

that I abide by…

“You can please some of the people all the

time, and all the people some of the time, but

you can never please all of the people all the

time.”
