Have something to write with. Look at the following 18 card backs, 6 at a time. Look closely at each one. Do you recognize it? Which ones

are familiar? Not familiar? Think of a session you are designing (or have designed) for

a client or program. Choose 4 cards that could anchor or inform the (re-)design

in some way. Or that you like, or resonate with. Write down your choices as you go, prioritizing on the fly.

Wind up with just 4. Poll: 18 Essentials, select 4, look at the results.

Exercise

• Leadership Beyond Boundaries. “An idea and image so simple that you can draw it in the dirt with a stick.”

• Now, the intent is to transcend LBB for more universal applications.• Further refinement into the card format, carefully choosing just one simple

image (back) and about 160 words of descriptive text (front). • Aim for global, universal, portable, affordable, scalable, viral. • A starting place for beginners. • Captures the spirit and substance of CCL in a precise & essential way. (Much

of CCL content requires SMEs and is too complex and esoteric to spread rapidly and globally.)

• Current prototype is a set 18 Essentials that form a reasonable whole (all of SOGI).

• Naming / positioning dilemmas: LE for Change; LE for Change Makers; … ??• What if, after an apocalypse, a band of survivors is starting over, and finds in

their survival kit our deck of Essentials … Could it make a difference?
