Karen’s LetterWelcome Autumn!

Wow – it’s March already, I can’t believe we are heading towards Easter already – it feels like it was Christmas yes-terday!

I love March and autumn is such a great time of year. The weather is lovely and it is a beautiful time in the spa to have some time out for you. The kids are back at school, although the school holidays will be back again very soon! If your New Year’s Resolution was to give yourself more time to nourish your own soul and it has just not happened, let’s work together to make March your month to fulfil this resolution.

During my own journey, and now that I have joined the 40’s club, I have realised how important it is to stop and breathe. Reward yourself for the sacrifices you have made for your family and friends. It is so important to give your-self at least 1 hour per month to stop – we always feel guilty about looking after ourselves, however we are al-ways willing to tell others how important it is for them to look after themselves. We are filled with advice for others but we also need to take our own advice.

If you have not yet taken the time to look at our cleans-ing / detox program, please be sure to read it in this issue. Also this month, don’t miss my article on happiness, it is what I would like to consider to be a universal goal.

Pranic healing is the name of a alternative medicinal modality created/rediscovered by Choa Kok Sui that uses prana (energy) to heal ailments in the body by manipulation of the person’s energy field. Choa Kok Sui states that Pranic healing is like acupuncture and yoga in that it treats the “energy body” which in turn affects the “physical body”.

According to Choa Kok Sui,[3] in ancient China there were 5 levels of healing. The first being massage which is of-ten referred to as acupressure. The second level involves healing with herbs and some animal products. The third uses acupuncture and moxibustion. In the four level the healer uses acupuncture with the projection of chi into the needles and meridians. The fifth level, which required the highest level of skill was the projection of chi with-out the use of physical contact or needles. The projection of chi energy (pranic energy) without physical contact is called Medical Chi Kung in China and was a closely guarded secret in both India and China. In India Medical Chi Kung is called Pranic Healing and was the name used by Choa Kok Sui to teach this method globally.

Yes, We Do Eye Lash Extensions! Most commonly asked questions answered.

Now is the time to try something new and summer is the perfect time for eye lash extensions.

These extensions will open up the eyes and they are great for people with heavy lids. These are also perfect if you do not like to wear makeup during summer – but still want to look your best in a relaxed way. You can even swim with them on!

Eye lash extensions last – you can maintain them for as long as you wish to have them, so long as you have them refilled. Your lashes will naturally fall out and renew themselves every 4 – 6 weeks. So depending on where in that cycles your lashes are will ultimately determine how long they last. You may lose one straight away or none for a few weeks. Due to this cycle it is recommended you refill them every 3-4 weeks to replace the lashes that have fallen out.

The best way to look after them and ensure they look great is:

1. Do not expose them to steam or water for the first 48 hours following application. This is to ensure the lashes have bonded properly. So avoid swimming.

2. No oil based products should be used on or around the lashes.

3. Avoid water proof mascara.

Do they make your natural lashes fall out? Normally no, but if they are refilled or pulled excessively the extensions may pull out the natural lashes. So avoid pulling the lashes.

If you have fair lashes – it is recommended you have them tinted. This will improve the look of the lashes as they will appear thicker and be the same colour.

What happens when you don’t want them any more? You can let them fall out naturally, however if you don’t want to go through the patchy process, removal can be done professionally. Do not pull them out yourself!

There are many hair removal machines out there and the quality and price of these ma-chines vary greatly. They start from $2500 with internet training, up to $140, 000 with very strict, in depth training and company support.

Health Watch - Finding Happiness

Happiness is the most sought after state of mind. According to Aristo-tle, the definition of happiness is “happiness is a state of activity” – in other words to be happy you’ve got to be moving forward. Here are six areas research has found to help ensure happiness:

1. Value your relationships. It has been found that the highest levels of happiness are found with the most stable, longest and closest relationships.

2. Express yourself. Sing aloud, talk to a stranger, raise your hand - all may increase a feeling of wellbeing. Studies have shown that peo-ple are happier when they are more outgoing, and less happy when reserved or withdrawn. This is true I think for myself and my team here at Le Beau. Al-though at the end of the day we may feel tired, we are happy and satisfied as we have touched other people’s lives in a positive way.

3. Spending money on others. People who share their wealth feel happier because they are giving back – it is not how much you spend, but how you spend it, that boosts your spirits.

4. Focus on the positive. This is the one that rings true for me. I see evidence of this every day with my family, friends, team and guests we have at the spa. People who look at the upside always appear to be lighter on their feet, no matter what!

5. Hydrate yourself. Drinking water really can help keep you buoyant. It has been found through studies that even slight dehydration compromised the moods of its female participants. (Shhh.. don’t tell the boys!)






6. Give to yourself. Be kind to you. Feed yourself, such as through massage, and allow yourself to receive! In order for us to spread love and be happy around others, we must be happy with our-selves first.

I would like to finish with one of my favourite quotes on the subject of happiness from the author of Finding Happiness, Todd Pakin:
