Welcome to the Leprechaun Chase 10K Des Moines!

At this point you’ve probably already made the wise decision to get registered. Now you are likely just trying to avoid doing something silly like showing up at the wrong place or forgetting to wear green – or both! We’re just like you, so that’s why we made this guide. Be sure to like our LC10K Facebook page for the latest breaking news and please read this entire document. You’ll be glad you did. At the very minimum, you’ll prevent us from having to pinch you for not wearing green. Remember, there’s no race day registration so don’t let your friends miss out, get them registered! Good luck and we’ll see you at the Chase!

Advanced Packet Pick-Up

Location: Animal Rescue League of Iowa | Main Location 5452 NE 22nd St, Des Moines, IA (Enter through north (blue) entrance). Date: Friday March 14th, 2014 Time: 11am to 7pm

Running with Your Dog 101 at Packet Pickup

The presenters will cover the “need to know” topics when it comes to you and your dog’s well-being during runs. Race Day Packet Pick-Up

Packet Pick-Up will be available on race day at Principal Park through gate A. However, we STRONGLY encourage you to pick it up in advance. Race day packet pick-up begins at 8:00am. Please arrive at least 1 hour early if you MUST pick-up your packet on race day.

The Course The Leprechaun Chase 10K Iowa starts and ends from the Principal Park Stadium in downtown Des Moines. The scenic course will traverse roads, trails and bridges and take in a loop around Gray’s Lake! The race will be chip timed. Miles will be marked and there will be 2 water stations. First One to Cross the Line Wins Travel Package Now there's even more reason to sprint to the finish of the Leprechaun Chase 10K. The first lass or lad to cross the finish line, not only wins bragging rights, $200 cash, they will also be given a running vacation package to compete in the May 4th Wings for Life World Run in Denver Colorado! Vacation package includes airfare, hotel and race entry.

Arrival Arrive early on race day March 15th, 2014. Leave plenty of time to park the car, stretch, laugh and make that final trip to the little lads or lasses room! Add another hour if you did not pick up your race packet in advance. The lasses start promptly at 10 am and the lads 5 ½ minutes later.

Parking

Parking is FREE and is available surrounding Principal Park. Arrive early to get a good spot. Overflow parking is available throughout downtown Des Moines. Click HERE to see a map of Principal Park.

Spectators

Spectators are encouraged to attend and bring their cow bells! The following are good locations to park, watch & cheer! • Principal Park | Start & Finish Line • Along Martin Luther King Blvd | mile 1-2 | (park downtown) • Gray’s Lake | mile 2-4 | (parking available at north or south shore)

Gear Check Sure, we can hold your gear while you race, but it will be safer and less of a hassle for you to leave as much as you can in your vehicle. Any personal items need to be clearly labeled with your bib # and last name. Turn items in to the Gear Check tent in Principal Park Gate A. Arrive early and allow extra time before the start of the race if you plan to use this service. You won’t want to miss the start. Gear will be available again after you cross the finish line wearing your silly grin.

Lining Up The start and finish line are located at Principal Park Stadium. If you can’t find it, just ask someone wearing green! We will begin lining up at about 9:40am. Lasses to the right, Lads to the left (keep your hands to yourselves). Rabbits to the front, turtles to the back. Yep, we’ll have pace signs to help you find the right spot. We’ll play the national anthem, step up to the timing mat and kick this puppy off at 10:00am sharp. Lads will twiddle their thumbs for another 5 ½ minutes before being released from the gates!

El Bait Shop

The party continues once you cross the finish line! Join us after the race for the Billion Fiat Green Beer After Party downtown at the el Bait Shop on Market Street. Leave the car at Principal Park and walk on over for the festivities where the good times will continue with food, drinks, awards ceremony and Fiats. The winning wave can cash in their free drink and the losing side will have to dream of next year. **You must bring your ID and be of age to consume adult beverages**

Weather We want the Leprechaun Chase 10K to happen just as much as you! We’ll do everything in our power to have things go off as scheduled. That being said, excessive rain, snow or other hazardous weather might cause us to modify or cancel the event. If the race is cancelled, runners will be refunded 25% of their entry fee. Cancellation is not likely, so plan on wearing green and running the most fun 10K of your life!

Free Iowa Wild Ticket All registered runners will receive a ticket to see the Iowa Wild play Sunday night, March 16th. Puck drops at 5:05 pm bring your free game ticket inside your race packet.
