LN Student-Athletes of the Week

Julio Valdez (XC) and Caroline Salvas (Golf) Julio placed 8th overall at the MIC Cross Country Championships, earning All-MIC

honors. Caroline competed at the IHSAA golf regional, shooting a 38-38-76, just missing a trip to the state finals. She ends her high school career as the best LN golfer in the history of the

school, setting records for 9 holes (36) and 18 holes (74) and earning Academic All-State honors. Great job Wildcats!

Team Reports

Cheerleading/Wildcat Fans: The cheerleaders will have a busy weekend, as they will be cheering on the Wildcats as usual on Friday night, and then will travel to Pendleton for their next competition in preparation for the state cheer competition later this fall. And a big shout out to the seniors for winning the Homecoming competition for 2019!

Football: The Wildcats (2-4, 0-4 MIC) played another close MIC game, but were on the wrong side of the score, 35-21. The Cats got down early as BD jumped out to a 14-0 lead, and LN had to play catch up the rest of the night. Omar Cooper hauled in a Donavan McCulley pass for a TD, Bishr Jones had a rushing TD, and Jeremy Lee ran an interception back for a TD. Longtime track coach Bob Potter was honored before the game. The LN track is now officially the Coach Bob Potter Track. Tony Award winning artist Ben Davis sang the National Anthem before the game, who graduated from Lawrence North and was an All-State track athlete for Coach Potter. Despite the loss, it was a great weekend of Homecoming activities at LN. The Warren Central Warriors stop by for a visit this Friday night. Let’s show up and support our boys as we look to pick up a win against the Warriors. Pictures by Hannah Johnson, North Star photographer.

Girls Golf: The girls golf team was represented at the IHSAA Regional by senior Caroline Salvas, who fired a 38-38-76 at Edgewood Golf Course in Anderson. She missed advancing to the state tournament by one stroke. Caroline had one heck of a season, setting the school record for 9 holes (36, Saddlebrook Par 35) and 18 holes (74, Woodwind Par 71). She was named to the All-Marion County team, the All-MIC Conference team, and was named to the Academic All-State team. Great job, Caroline!
