Tag, sort and pre-treat guests laundry items in accordance with organizational requirements. Inspect guest items for damages and stains and report any damages to the laundry supervisor. Ensure the proper use, storage and maintenance of laundry equipment, tools and supplies. Perform spot cleaning procedure on heavy soiled/ stained and contaminated articles. Perform washing of guest items according to propertys standard procedures. Perform mending and repair of guest garments. Fold and place laundry item in appropriate storage area. Operate laundry machinery such as washers, driers and ironers. Perform pressing / ironing according to prescribed procedures. Responsible for sewing or mending of guest clothes. Figure bills to be attached to guest laundry. Clean and maintain work areas. Transport clean laundry to storage areas. Perform other duties as maybe assigned by the supervisor

IntroductionA guest may avail of laundry service by either calling the Housekeeping Desk and a Room Attendant is sent to collect the laundry alternatively, if the Laundry is on premises, the Order-taker in the Laundry cabin will receive the call and the Valet Runner will collect the laundry. If the hotel provides a Laundry Hanger, the guest may hang this out on the doorknob indicating that there is laundry for collection.The laundry attendant should follow the company's policies and procedures for collecting laundry.Procedure for Collecting Laundry Items from Guestroom1. A single line under the symbol means use permanent press setting.

Two lines under the symbol means use gentle cycle setting.

An X over the symbol with a circle means do not tumble dry.

Three vertical lines mean to line dry.

IntroductionStains are one of the greatest challenges to all Laundry personnels. When laundering stained clothing, it is best to remove a stain before it dries and sets. Always check the type of stain and identify the type fabric before employing spotting procedure.Removing Stain1. Gather all necessary materials.a. Stain-removing agents (use specific stain remover for specific fabric and stain). All purpose detergent White vinegar Lemons Bleaches (Hydrogen peroxide, Oxygen bleach, Chlorine bleach) Ammonia Rubbing alcohol Acetoneb. Solvent-type cleaning fluids (dry cleaning or spot removers)c. Enzyme pre treatment productsd. Stained clothe. Scrapping toolf. Paper towel or Towel2. Wear Proper Protective Equipment (PPE).3. See and follow care label found in the collar or side seam of the garment.4. Read and follow package directions of the product to be use.5. Pre-clean the garment by blotting or scraping. Place the stained area face down on a clean paper towel or white cloth.6. Check for colorfastness by testing the stain remover on the unseen area of the item to avoid damage on the fabric.7. Gently scrub the stain-remover on the wrong side of the garment.8. Continue to soak and scrub until the stain has disappeared.9. Launder the garment.

TIP For liquid stain, first blot the stain, do not rub, to absorb excess liquid before it soaks in deeper. For solid stains, such as mud, you should scrape it off with a butter knife before you attempt to clean the stain.

Load the laundry as high as your owner's manual specifies or to the top row of holes in the tub.7. Close the lid and set the controls of your washing machine according to what you are washing. Set the water level: The level of water should depend on the quantity/weight of items to be laundered. Adjust the water temperature of the washing machine: Use hot temperature if garments are heavily soiled or white in color. Use warm temperature for bright colors and lightly soiled items. Adjust to cold temperature if items are for permanent press.8. Select the right wash cycle and time. Use super wash cycle for heavily soiled items. Regular wash cycle is appropriate for light soiled ones.9. Set Spinning and rinsing cycle10. Turn on your washing machine. Allow it to work through all of the cycles and turn itself off before you unload the washed laundry.11. Remove laundry items from the tub when the buzzer sounds.

Preparation1. Prepare the materials needed: Flat Iron Ironing board Water sprayer (optional) Clean damp cloth Hanger Cloths rack2. Check the cleanliness and condition of flat iron and ironing board before starting to work.3. Set the ironing board.4. Consult care label of the fabric for ironing temperature.

Ironing Shirt1. Correct order of ironing a shirt:a. The collar part of shirt should be firstb. Yolk/ shoulder partc. The cuffd. The sleevese. The body of shirt2. Put a damp cloth on top of the ironing board. Clean the iron by rubbing it on the damp cloth.3. Start the process by ironing the collar:a. Flatten the back of the collar on the surface of the boardb. Run the iron over the back of the collar several times until you are sure it is correctly pressed.c. Turn the shirt over and iron the front of the collar, follow the same ironing procedure used for the back of the collar4. Next iron the sleeves:a. Lay the back of the sleeve on the ironing boardb. Stretch the fabric by using the palm of your handc. Iron the back of the sleevesd. Flip the shirt over and iron the front of the sleeves5. Iron the body part of the shirt:a. Start with the left upper side of the shirt; flatten the fabric by using the palm of your hand.b. Iron straight upwards keeping good tension all the time.c. Iron the seam by running the edge of the iron over the stitching while pulling with the other hand.d. Continue moving the shirt towards you bit-by-bit, ironing one section at a time.e. Move in and out of the buttons taking care not to hit the buttons by going too fast.f. Continue this way remembering to hold the shirt by the collar all the time while pulling against the force of the iron to give a crisp finish.6. Hang the pressed shirt with a hanger.

Ironing Pants1. Turn on the iron and set to correct temperature2. Clean the iron by putting it on top of a damp face towel3. Iron the pockets4. Iron the fly, seams and hems5. Iron the waist band6. Hold the pants on the lower part of the leg7. Fold the leg of the pants together8. Lay the folded pants on the ironing board9. Pull out the pockets and iron it10. Fold one leg up, allow it to overlap the waist11. Iron in a circular motion, start working from the cuff to the pocket12. Iron down to the leg smoothly creating only one straight line13. Fold the other leg back down and iron as you did on the first leg. Make sure in seams are align with each other14. Turn the pants over and lay the pants on the ironing board15. Match up the in seam and the side seam so that they are directly over each other16. Iron down the leg to create a permanent crease17. Turn off the iron and let it cool down before putting it away.18. Hang from the waist or fold the pants

Ironing Dress1. Iron all parts that have a double thickness such as collars, hems, cuff, sleeves, bows, ties and pocket and other parts that have double thickness.2. Iron non flat portions like ruffles, shoulders, and puffed sleeves.3. To iron puffed sleeves, stuff them with whiter cloth or towel.4. Iron the body of the cloth starting on the upper portion of the garment.


Fold guest items properly after the washing and ironing processes.

IntroductionFolding is an art and doing it correctly can help us to become organized. It helps to prevent garments from wrinkling and therefore it can also avoid re-ironing, re-washing and drying. Before yon start folding, the garment must be flat and wrinkle-free, and the fabric must remain nicely spread out throughout the folding process to keep garments free of creases.

Folding Shirt1. Button the top and third button.2. Lay the shirt face down.3. Smooth out the shirt so it is flat on the front and back.4. The first fold is right side: Fold about one-third of the body towards the center of the shirt. The fold line starts at the center of the shoulder and ends at the tail.5. Neatly fold the sleeve forward, creating an angled fold at the shoulder. The sleeve should line up with the edge of the first body fold.6. Fold the left side in the same manner.7. Make a fold of several inches of the shirttail.8. Fold up the bottom half of the partially folded shirt. The tail should be just behind the collar of the shirt.9. Turn the entire shirt over.

For hanged items, put a tie label indicating the name of the guest and room number.7. Return finished items to guest in accordance with required timeframe.8. Store processed guest laundry when required, according to guest requests or when returning the laundry item to guests is not possible
