FAREWELL MS LAMBERT!!

We shared our thanks to Ms Lambert this week, as she leaves St

Jude’s after ten and half years. We held a special assembly to

share our reflections and thanks for her dedication to St Jude’s.

Children in reception, year one

and year 2 had made cards to

present to Ms Lambert, with

special messages written on

hearts and flowers. She also left

with a huge bunch of flowers

and gifts from parents!

We wish her lots of

luck and happiness in

the next chapter of her

life!

World War II Day!

Year 5 experienced a taste of the 1940s on Thursday as they arrived to

school ready to be evacuated. The children were sent to far and wide

across the school. Some were lucky, others not so much. Mr Sharp,

Mr Ellis and Miss Douch were particularly unfriendly hosts! After our

experience of evacuation, we baked some cakes without using eggs or

milk to experience cooking under rationing. We also created bunting and

Union Jack pinwheels to help us celebrate VE Day in the afternoon.

After lunch, we returned to class to Winston Churchill’s announcement

that the war had ended. One rousing rendition of God Save the King

later and we set to work decorating the classroom for our party. We

tried 1940s dancing, ate our cakes and had a run around outside. What a

busy day!

Life as an evacuee… Party preparations…

Cake and games!

Walk to School Week

Thank you to our School Council children who

led our assembly launching Walk to School

Week! So many children have completed

their 5 day walking challenge, thank you

parents for supporting us with this.

Clean Air Campaign

All children took part in a ‘Keep Our Air Clean’ poster competition, judged by two

governors, Mark Wilkinson and Jonathan Bennett. They had a tough job choosing the

winning poster – which will be made into a banner to be placed on the fence at the

front of our school.

St Jude's Online Safety Newsflash

Sim Simi – a social networking app to be avoided

SimSimi is an Artificial Intelligence (AI) social networking chat bot app that learns from conversations,

questions and user’s responses.

This free app is full of pop ups and adverts, it asks personal questions and you can talk about anything and

anyone and then share it publicly.

It is easy to see how and why users misuse this app for online bullying and can believe they are talking to a

real person. It allows the user to ask the app to ‘think for them’ and creates a comment based on the con-

versation that is being had.

It is clear why this is attractive to younger users but it should be avoided by all.

Lost Property:- A black H&M jumper was found last night after the Quiz Night, please call the office or

pop in to collect it.

Thank you
