2018 Laser Industry -Ringier Technology Innovation Awards

Site Tour to Shanghai Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics October 19th, AfternoonShanghai Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics (SIOM), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) was established in 1964. It is one of the earliest institutes in China specializing in laser science and technology. As a comprehensive high-tech institute, SIOM mainly focuses on the frontiers of modern optical and laser science, the development of large-scale laser engineering & technology and laser & optoelectronic applications. SIOM attaches much importance to international cooperation and academic exchange. Under CAS President’s International Fellowship Initiative (PIFI) and other programs, visiting scholars, scientists and entrepreneurs from over 50 countries/regions, including Nobel laureates and heads of state, have paid visits or participated in short-term cooperation at SIOM. Each year, about 200 international visitors come to SIOM and over 200 SIOM researchers go abroad for international conferences or collaborative research. In 2007, SIOM was awarded the International Cooperation Base by the Ministry of Science and Technology of China and evaluated one of the Excellence Bases in 2015.

The Ringier Technology Innovation Awards for industrial manufacturing were inaugurated byRingier Trade Media in 2006. The Awards is now rewarded to a selected group of innovators each year in a number of pillar industries in China.
