Laser Methane Mini
Laser Methane Mini-G with green laser and Android interface
UAV LMm-G with Data Logger
Applications Leak detection and emission monitoring
tasks, such as natural gas line surveys, tank inspections, landfill emission monitoring, gas well testing, plant safety audits …
The sensor is only sensitive for methane. Due to this, there are no false readings.
Working Principle The concept is based on Infrared
Absorption Spectroscopy. A laser light in the spectral range
of 1,65 μm is emitted.
Working Principle The laser light is reflected at the
background and captured back in the instrument.
The outgoing and incoming signals are compared with a built-in reference cell.
~ 100 %
Working Principle If there is methane gas present
along the laser path, the laser light is partially absorbed.
An algorithm calculates the gas concentration in ppm*m (parts per million multiplied by meter).

Components
Laser Methane Mini-G gas detector

Influencing Factors Vibrations from UAV. Use a gimbal or other vibration eliminating mounts for the
installation. Altitude: the smaller the distance between sensor and background, the higher the
sensitivity. For optimum results, always fly as low as possible. Wind: consider the wind direction. Once determined, always fly the sensor downwind.
The laser needs to ‘cut’ the gas cloud. Shiny surfaces like water or ice don’t reflect sufficient energy back to the instrument.

Reporting
3rd party reporting and documentation software (desktop or cloud solutions). For example: LineVision from Remote Geo
Installations
At a Glance Remote detection of methane; no cross-sensitivity with other
gases. Self-check during startup. No calibration of instrument required. Coordinates and gas concentrations are saved on a SD Card, 10
measurements per second. Easy to install through built-in GPS, data storage and own battery.
