Cairo from 2004 to 2008 aggressively pursued economic reforms to attract foreign investment and facilitate GDP growth. The international economic downturn slowed Egypt's GDP growth to 4.5% in 2009, predominately a�ecting export-oriented sectors, however, the Egyptian government is expecting growth rates to rise to 6% during the coming �scal year, considerably higher than a large majority of global nations and a testament to the strong economic indicators within Egypt that it has such growth during such economic downturn.

TourismTourism is one of the most important sectors in Egypt's economy.Egypt’s tourism revenues rose during the �rst half of 2010 by 17.6 percent compared to the same period of last year to reach $5.58 billion as of June 2010. Egypt ministers hope that the total tourism revenues reach $13 billion by the end of 2010,” as tourism represents 11 percent of the country’s gross domestic product (GDP).

Red SeaThe Red Sea is one of the biggest and most impressive diving locations anywhere in the world. It is home to a 500 year old coral reef stretching for more than 800 km along the coastline, so there is never any shortage of of wonder ful locations for divers and snorkelers alike. The warm, clear water is home to a multitude of rare aquatic species, which help to make the Red Sea an underwater paradise like no other. The long stretch of sandy beaches running along the coastline have, over time, been developed into established diving locations and resorts where tourists can take advantage of the warm temperatures on the shore and the magical world beneath the water's surface.

ORIENTAL COAST RESORT

Oriental Coast LocationThe location of the Oriental Coast Resort has been speci�cally chosen to ensure it is situated in the most scenic part of the coast, with a picturesque bay and wonderful reefs and marine life.

The developers used helicopters to investigate hundreds of kilometres of coast around Marsa Alam to be able to pick the best location, taking experienced divers with them to advise on the best locations.

Oriental Coast is positioned a 1hr 45 mins drive south of Hurghada and a 50 minute drive north of Marsa Alam town. The Oriental Coast will be a town in its own right when completed although the development is well located with a 20 minute drive south of the nearest town of Al Quasir. Oriental Coast will bene�t from the proximity to Hurghada and Marsa Alam - which both have international airports.

Oriental Coast FeaturesThe Oriental Coast Resort is being designed by WATG, one of the world's most distinctive architectural practices.
