Her books include Paralelismos transatlanticos: poscolonialidad y narrativa femenina en América Latina y Africa del Norte (1996). She has edited several volumes including Moros en la costa: orientalismo en Latinoamérica (Vervuert/ Iberoamericana, 2008), Paradoxical Citizenship: Eduard Said (2006, 2008), Democracy in Chile: The Legacy of September 11, 1973 (2005 Arthur Whitaker Prize), Le Maghreb Poscolonial (2003). She has published extensively and given conferences in Europe and Latin America about the colonial world, archives and women’s voices, and the history of medicine in colonial times. Among her most important works are La historia de cada día (2002) and Lavanderas en el tiempo (2003).
