A DESIGN OF A SUSTAINABLE, MODULAR PORTABLE CLASSROOM
DECEMBER 2013.
This is an exercise in rethinking and designing the portable classroom to be more comfortable, and more sustainable, while still being easily constructed. This is an exercise in climate analysis and sustainable design. This project was executed in partners over a 5-day period. It aims to address the ten ecological aspects outlined to the left.

Classroom Floor plan Design:The portable classroom is based on a 3x3 modular unit. It is 3x9m total to suit a 20-child class .The amenities are located along the west wall and segregate the septic services from the educational spaces. The south coat room acts as an insulating sun space and storage area. The double ramps provide multiple egress or fire safety. The garden patch counteracts the severity of the hard, asphalt site.
Interior Daylighting Factor:The large north window and south sun room and clerestory allow high interior daylight factors up to 5% up to 5m into the classroom.

SUNBRELLA 2014: THE FUTURE OF SHADE ARCHITIZER
COMPETITION, APRIL 2014
The tree is the inspiration for my shading strategy because it is a universal giver of shading, cooling and life. This canopys light and airy spatial quality is inspired by the natural reaching, flowing and floating of trees. The graceful geometric form of the column is inspired by the Chinese character shu (tree), which when in a trio creates lin (forest).
Top ViewThe canopy is composed of modular fabric leaves in various shades of green and blue. The leaves and the gaps between them create a pattern of dappled sun and colourful shade.

Site Plan Approval Package: Concept Site Plan The site for this proposed retail unit is beside a food store similar to many of those I worked on at Turner Fleischer. My work on the Site Plan Approval for this proposed retail unit involved developing the site plan, floor plan and elevations. The design is based on the clients prototype. Names and floor plans are modified to preserve confidentiality.

JAN-APR 2014.
During my internship at Turner Fleischer, I produced site plan approval packages, for very many retail clients projects. These packages included preparing site plans, elevations, plans and statistics. At this job, I learned to use Revit and AutoCAD and read code and bylaws.

SIDEWALK CONNECTIONThis sidewalk connection relates Retail C, D, E and H to each other and makes them accessible to pedestrians. Retail E and H are identical restaurant units that relate across the parking lot. The units patios face the sidewalk so users are not confronted by cars. The summertime garden centre sits beside this sidewalk connection for best pedestrian access.
RETAIL H AND IGeneric box store H and Prototype I are sited to work with the existing culvert, setback, drive aisle, parking space size and parking ratio requirements. The loading for retail I is designed to work and make minimum impact on the parking lot. These retail units are at the edge of the site to have good visibility from the street.

NINE-SQUARE GRID PAVILION: A STUDY IN COMPOSING SPACE
1A STUDIO 2012
In this exercise, there is no site, and no materials; only the nine square grid and primitives to define it. It is an exercise in formal aesthetic. My pavilion was designed to suggest the formal three by three grid within a harmonious composition of proportion and number. The project was executed entirely manually: in bainbridge model, and ink on mylar.

SCULPTED SELF-PORTRAIT IN AIR-DRY CLAY.
January 2013
This is an exercise in sculpture: a self-portrait grounded in space. This is a model at 1:5 in clay, wood dowels and aluminum foil. It was developed through various iterations and media before this final form.It is documented in ink on mylar and rendered into an environment with Photoshop. The form of this self portrait was heavily influenced by the Greco-Roman Cultural History course at Waterloo.

This is a landscape project dedicated to the experimental research,
cultivation and display of plant based treatments for neurological disorders. It is a space for advancing the cutting edge of the field of
psychoactive medicine using plants such as marijuana
and psilocin for the treatment of disease.
The remediation of the quarry landscape aims to heal with wetlands and
forest, yet keep the scars of the quarry activity visible. The garden aims capture
the spirit of the cloister, and create disorientation and reorientation in its design.
Residents of the garden:Plants with medicinal potential
Context Plan: the quarry is on the outskirts of the city of Milton.
